For this is my body, one piece ash, angled neck pocket. I'm still debating whether or not to do the oil finish butcher block look, I don't like the knot on top of the pickup cavity, or go for the blue burst nitro.

For this is my neck, maple, ebony fretboard (looks darker in person), with a D shape, soft rolled off edges. Feels great, won't know for sure until it's on the body but it really feels good, in my hands as well.....

Looks really cool dude! Mine is a 2 piece body. I can see the seam, but I think that's because it's light color. The grain is matched very well though.

About where's yours is showing to be. I measured it yesterday to see if I can put the floyd flush with the body.

Ok...i have a vintage bridge on this strat and i had to raise the saddles so much i had to get longer screws.

I think i am going to order up a new body from MK and make the white one I posted earlier.
Did you take the angle in the neck pocket?

Really!?? That sucks!! It seems to be about as deep as my EBMM and my other parts guitar.

Who knows why. It's a Fender body from their Baja plant.
I think my neck deserves a quality body :)

Ahh!! That explains it...

I was going to put together a Warmoth Strat but all the stuff I wanted would have cost me around $1100 or so in the end. I went with this instead for $1300.

It's a GMW, not a Charvel.

There was a time when I'd agree with you man... When it's a toss-up between building a Warmoth and having a finished GMW, I'd say go for the finished guitar. But GMW isn't what it was and I've heard stories about Lee Garver. I prefer not to get involved with him. Plus... the new Charvels are so overpriced, I decided to just build my own.

Yeah, I still want to put together a Strat someday too. Would be fun putting together something with everything you want in a guitar. I also agree about the Charvels being too expensive. I wouldn't pay $2400 for one. I figured $1300 was a great price though, and it's less hassle for my lazy ass.

I'm giving the body a sanding with 600 grit paper right now... I have a really good feeling about this guitar guys... Hope I'm right... ;)

Oh yeah definitely... I looked around and it wasn't happening... speaking of Charvels being overpriced...
Some of those natural-finished guitars had some messed up matching. The 2 pieces of wood don't even come close to matching. Like they didn't even try.

I think you're better off with a two pice body if you are going to oil finish. I was in corksniff mode when I ordered mine.

Ya know, the 1 piece was just too much of an upcharge for me. It was like $80 more for 1 piece swamp ash. I just couldn't justify it.

Lets see...

My white w/blood splatter graphic Jamerson body cost $369
I estimate I'll get the neck (jamerson san dimas strat head, flame maple w/striped ebony board)for $180
Floyd: $170
Pickup: $120
Pot, chrome knob, wiring, strap knobs, pickup ring: $30
Tuners: $51

$920 total plus the few hours to slap it together... Save $380... Nicer neck...

I counted up that mine should cost me about $800.

Yeah, I'm paying more for the paint and figuring on the neck... Also I like the chrome Suhr Aldrich pickup and they are expensive...

Yup... That price for the painted body is very good. I might make another one painted with 1 pickup later.

Those things are so hot, you don't even have to plug the guitar in! I've been back in the 8.5k-9.0k mode lately.

I've got guitars with 8.5K-9.2K in 'em too so I'm covered. I like the Aldrich with the MKIV and the 8.5-9.2K pickups with my PeaceMaker...

Here's a pict of my '82 Charvel Strathead mutt. The body is a USACG "Wayne Rock Legend" with a black nitro finish. Wolfetone Marshallhead pickups. This one has tone big time.

Killer - nice neck...

OK, as long as you have some lower output pups, you're ok. Here's the color I'm thinking, i like the way the blue burst looks with the ebony neck.

I concur! Blue Burst it is then...
