Man, these pickups are pretty sweet. My Singlecut is an older 25" scale, non-weight relieved so it's pretty fat on it's own, but these pickups blow away the #7's.

Bright, they are not. In fact, I had to bump the treble up on my amp. They are warm, yet focused and aggressive. A HUGE improvement over stock. Glad I rolled the dice, they're killer!

I loved that pickup in my old Gibson LP Standard. It is in the hot pickup category but cleans up so well and can cover alot of ground

Thanks for letting me know it's not bright - I'll likely find another pickup then. I was wondering if they had the teeth on the top end to add more bite to the LPT they'd be going into. I'll likely go with super distortion instead

I just dropped an Aldrich set in a Gibson LP Studio, and so far I am thrilled

I've had a pair in a Les Paul for a while and I'm still not totally sure how I feel about them. They're cool but I do often find them a bit too warm and fat. Maybe I just need to find the right height.

Height is very important for me.

I have an aldrich set that's about to go into one of my les pauls to replace the EMG Anniversary set that is in there now.

They do have teeth, once you get the amp cranked!

That’s my take on them. A little too dark for me in a lot of guitars. I do like them in the bridge position of a bright Les Paul though

I guess we hear things differently, the super distortion to me sounds fuller with more bass, the Aldrich is well balanced and cuts nicely. The highs are slightly rounded but it is a tight pickup all the way through and def not dark. I have an ear that leans towards the brighter side and the aldrich is almost perfect. I had one in an alder strat for the past few years but just took it out to experiment. It def. has the bite compared to an SD. imo of course.

I've got an Aldrich in a single pickup strat, and it sounds fantastic in there. I've also got it set pretty low. Plenty of bite without being harsh or pokey

I had a set in my 2000 PRS Single Cut which I found to be too dark, fat and tubby on the low end. Maybe I’ll try again adjusting the height. I was running 3/32 on top and bottom

Oh I think you’re inferring the dimarzio SD is a replacement to my decision for the Aldrich. Read my comment to instead mean I’m settling on an SD as a replacement to originals, and not a pickup choice that does something the Aldrich doesn’t.

I will state the Aldrich seems to have that scooped mids thing always going on that kind of bothers me? It seems like it turns every guitar into that whitesnake tone lol

We all hear things differently. The main reason I like the Suhr Aldrich and SSH+ is because they have more upper mids and are not dark. I find every Seymour Duncan pickup to be dark vs any Suhr pickup I’ve owned. Keep in mind that I don’t set pickup heights up to what the consensus says… l use my ears and actually use a marked screw driver to make adjustments. For example, I set a pickup to where it sounds good. Then I do adjustment typically in 1/2 turns and will use little stickers to mark each screw side for any changes after. This way I can determine changes in a somewhat scientific way. I even measure and check after truss rod changes, bridge height changes, etc. yeah, it’s obsessive, but I’ve been doing it a long time and it works for me. I rarely need to make changes once things are set. Another thing I do is change out pickups with their rings when testing so that I don’t lose that sweet spot in height. ?

Interesting! Have you find some pickup brand or model become very dark or boomy when they are very low? Have you tried the dimarzio superdistortion?

Yeah, before I give up on a pup I experiment with the height quite a bit before I switch it out. Sometimes it’s a night and day difference.

I tend to back my pickups off the strings as well... tighter. But if they are already low and it is tub city, the pickup has to go! right now that is what I hear in the stock explorer neck pup I have. It is horrible. I have an old Dimarzio PAF type that i am going to throw in there instead. The 36 anni neck I have in another guitar is as perfect as I have found for a neck pickup. Love it.

Yeah I have a 36th paf dimarzio set in my Carvin DC600 and they sounds amazing at 2.2/2.4mm near the strings ! But the Superdistortion change drastically (not for the gain but in the bass eq) with a 1/2 turn of the spring and I've never found until now the right setting for me
