So are you going to keep all three? If so, what's your justification? ;)

I hope he sells the DSL50 to me :D

And please don't ask how many amps I have

Hey Thump, Glad to hear all is well in ampland for you. As I said in a previous post, I know the seller and have bought tons of stuff from him over the past 30 years. Clips? :m17: :m17: I still think the Twin will rule the roost but you can never tell. Big difference in tone and tubes etc. I'm back in love with my 59 Guild after 5 days of A/B the two with some of my guitars. I think I will use my amp selector switch to access both channels of the Guild. Channel 1 is marked Inst and 2 is ACC. Very cool and extreamly vintage in sound and tone. Works for me.

LOL! The ONLY justification I can come up with is that I got the Crate and Marshall rigs for cheap. That's about the only excuse I have!

Good enough for me.

score dude!

Any chance of sharing some settings and bias settings?

I hate you. That is all.

congrats on the score of the decade!!

pretty impressive for the stock tubes to still be in there. I bet after changing the power tubes the amp will be more dynamic? I know the SED's in the pre-amp sound pretty damn good in there if they don't go dead.
congrats thumper! :D

Thats just a ridiculous price. I'm the same way. Clips would be most welcome!

 Tell me about it...although I came of guitar age in the 80s, my tones all sound like rarefied 70s - no matter what I play through. i guess, when you have a particular way of hearing yourself, you get what you get. Sometimes it's purdy, sometimes it's mufugly. :aww: That thing's gonna be scary!

Sure! I bias each tube exactly how Marshall says... I think it's 45mV per tube using a DMM and their bias points on the back of the amp. Some people say that's too hot, but I don't think Marshall would recommend that setting if it wasn't right.

Also, the settings obviously depend on the cab. I'm using my late '70s Marshall slant cab with "Blackback" speakers. I have the "deep" switch on, the bass up around 2:00 o'clock, and the mid/treble/presence down low (under noon.) I'm on mode 1 on the lead channel with the preamp gain around 2:00 o'clock, but that depends on the guitar pickups.

This is just for home, though. I'd probably come up with the mid/treble/presence in a live setting to cut through more and maybe even back off the preamp distortion.

What settings are you using? Stuff that's way different or pretty similar?

I'm on the classic gain channel, crunch switch in gain up to half.

bass at 11'o clock mid at 9' o clock and treble+presence at 0.
