Got the Kemper

There's something about it I don't like. I can't put my finger on it, but I just have no desire to get one. I'm not a huge fan of my Axe II either :(

Gotta love honeymoons. It will be hilarious when the Kemper becomes the new digital dog to kick around here in a few months.

This thing is scary. First digital modeling piece that I've heard that's making me question why I need the "studio amps."
You need them to copy silly....... :D

Think of an axe fx level modeller that you can model amps in your possession in about 5 minutes including setup time. Check out the clip I posted in the other thread - it's my '70 superlead, and there is no way in hell I ever got that close with an axe fx standard. Not sure about the II but I haven't heard anything that really sounded as good as what took me 10 minutes without even reading the manual.

This is one of the reasons that the Kemper will win the battle with the AFX. Even AFX owners admit that they have to tweak for a long time to get a tone they really like, some even say it took them months. I can't fucking imagine doing that.
been there done that and will never do it again unless it was absolutely necessary.
This is the modelor for the guys who want to plug in and play and Id gather that the technology will only get better.
What Id like to try is to profile an amp with a crazy eq setting in front of it and see what happens :D

I think people need to put this on there radar if they are interested in it and then wait a few months to see if it holds up before jumping in .

I like this concept way better then any modelor that's out there because it would allow me to profile my amps/my sounds and then I could take it to a gig. I think this is an easier solution then having to constantly tweak a sound over and over again.

I think all this stuff is win win though because if you like tweaking you have many options, if you don't , now you have this option and if you can't be bothered by any of it, you have ....well options :D

I have 2 fly out gigs comming up this year and this would make the gigs a breeze ;)

I just spoke to DonBarzini. He got the Kemper and agrees with everything Pete said and he told me to tell Pete to email him his profile :D
We are talking amp profile this time and not a nude picture profile :hys:

I gotta admit this is the first digital modeler that I feel interested in :)

If I had 1,900 to spare I'd get it.

I wouldn't just sell my amps though.... but it'd be awesome to have A LOT more amps that I'm interested in without having to buy the originals :)

Hey Pete, Barzini said that he doesn't want a full nude profile, He just want's a pic with nothing on from the waist down sitting on bull horns and wearing spurs. That outta do the trick

I'll just torrent the profiles...

So did you profile the AxeFx II :)

This would be like dividing by zero...

All I can say is... wow. It's a little weird to navigate since I didn't read the manual and basically just started spinning knobs. Here's the one sentence review:

It's the real deal.

I'll see if I can record an ok clip of my '70 Marshall that I profiled - it seemed to get it pretty good. ;) It's a stock '70, I jumpered the channels, ran it through a hotplate and had it loud as hell even though it was attenuated quite a bit.

The effects are good, I know people bitch about the 'breadmaker' form factor but it's stupid easy to tweak an amp or effect parameter in real time. I haven't even updated the firmware yet.

Anywhoo, proof of the pudding for me will be live at a gig. But so far, so good! And the presets are actually useful - not just "wow, check out how many effects I can stack at once" like most modellers.

If it were almost anyone else, I may take this with a grain of salt. But Pete knows his stuff, glad you're happy with it.

Ack! Germans do it again.... do they make anything half assed? Always bringing the goods. They breed the coolest dogs and design killer cars now this! Total modelling domination! One thing though.. what happens when you've "copied" all your amps and sold them and your Kemper crashes on you?? Keep backups! The longer you keep the file, the better it sounds.... like an old Plexi burning in those mustards.

Congrats Pete! So, are amp "profiles" able to be saved and sent to other users? Or do you have to go to buy amps and return them to GC or MF?

Also, is the profiled sound stuck at whatever your settings were on the Marshall when you profiled? Or does it just profile the circuit itself and not the current settings? Sorry, just don't really understand how it works...

Hmmmm...I dunno not sure I fault the Axe for it anymore than I'd fault guys using a SUper Lead asking for sample settings.
But Stratotones clip of the Kemper is finally something where my ears perked up, all the previous clips I heard left me completely uninterested.

Very cool. I am getting more and more interested in the Kemper.

I don't see it going away either. Their Access Virus synthesizer has been getting updates for like 15 years or something.
