i’m not a mando guy but have friends who are great.
i do play and love ukulele though, for obvious reasons! we had ukulele class in kindergarten here and thus began my love affair with stringed instruments!

that was cool. i like when an acoustic tune makes you want to pick up the instrument and just play.
this thread was initially a question for those who regularly play acoustic guitars live and what they are using to get a high quality consistent tone they like performing with. the examples i cited were moments that i felt best exemplified great live acoustic sound in my experiences.
Roby Duke (RIP) used to come with just his Avalon gtr and plug into our house Radial DI and it sounded great. this time his gtr had a crack in it so we put blue painter’s take over the crack so it wouldn’t buzz
Paul Clark has quite an impressive collection of Martin gtrs but his Petros is the best acoustic i’ve ever heard in my life hard stop. He too just plugged in to our DI box or sometimes brought a tc scf.
Plus he was a studio vocalist so gas a nice texture to his voice, and is into electrics so we’ve gone to the Baked Potato together to see Mike Landau blaze!
both these linked recordings don’t capture exactly what the sound was like in the house as my console mix was fed via tie lines up to the video room, passing through a yamaha sub mixer where room mics were added, then output through an ART tube compressor before hitting the web streaming/recording computers to get these videos. the sound in the house with subs was much bigger and organic!
Paul told me that when he first got his Petros, he was playing somewhere with Phil Keaggy and during soundcheck Phil asked the soundman to turn Paul’s gtr down in his monitor and Paul wasn’t even plugged in yet! That guitar sounds enormous and was a gift from Bruce Petros to Paul.

Peter offers a transcription of that arrangement of “My Favorite Things” on his website and i got a copy. not that i will ever get through all of it but just to understand some sections is good with me!

This is my old Godin Grand Concert. Probably the best guitar I ever owned. Had to sell it after fell on hard times.

I recorded this entirely with the built in mic on my iphone and thought it came out pretty great actually. Maybe a bit light on bass but I favor bright tones anyway
