badlands and cry of love were killer but done in by Seattle grunge

if they would have come out today, different story
I think the industry is ready for a quality old school dinosaur rock band or two to hit

oh my brother from the island....Cry of love is my ace in the hole band!

that first badlands lp is so under rated
i liked the stripped down tone on it
it was kinda overtly kossof/pagey but that is a good thing

Agreed. I've got the cassette and should get around to seeing if I can procure a digital copy of it. Some cool tunes on that album!

Having said that... I always dug Jake's tone on Bark at the Moon. A bit thin, but some cool Marshall tones anyways. More like a JCM900 than an 800 in terms of thin sound, but more gain.

Almost all Shrapnel shedders post- Yngwie
Mike Stern
John Scofield
John Petrucci
Steve Morse
Paul Gilbert
John Maclaughlin

its all subjective though..

all Lamb of God

Rust in Peace might be the worst though

Couple ones that piqued my attention:

Jimmy Page: Yep, I'm not a fan of his tone much whatsoever, but I always have to think of the vintage of their music. I, too, find a lot of it thin and buzzy, and sometimes as though there's a blanket over the entire recording. Talent-wise though, incredible.

Slash: I actually think his tone kicks all kinds of ass. He may not be an uber-virtuoso, but I love his tone.

My 2 cents,
Mo
