Odin, as far as I know, the people that designed the 5150 III in conjunction with EVH were mostly Fender personnel (if not all of them). Jackson are made by Jackson personnel. I see a distinction between the two. And even if you don't agree that's fine. I have an opinion and you have yours. In any case, I felt that an amp that Fender had INVOLVEMENT with, would have a better clean channel. 'nuff said on this as the semantics aren't important to me, only the tone.

Weird but the 5153 did not have the levels of gain that I thought that it would, all the boogies, SE, Cameron, JVM, etc.......had more gain on tap. It is enough but I just thought that it had more.

After taking the HOM Slaving 101 course taught by Ralph using just one amp again will not be enough

Glad you guys had fun. AGH, i got a splitting headache since i got a little toasted :D I think i played all of 30 seconds on Scotts Ibanez, but it was fun hearing some amps like the new EVH and Dan's Cameron. And yeah, i liked the Cameron a little bit more than the EVH. But on the Greenback cab, the EVH sounded pretty good.

Thanks for you guys for lugging stuff over  And Thanks to H for th setup on my Wayne

How did his Cameron sound compared to both of mine?

Sounds like a Great time ..
How did the JVM hold up against the other amps ?
Thanks

I just dont get the few reviews that said those amps were very similar to the peavey. Its a night and day thing to me. A very different playing experience.

Yeah, not sure where those views are coming from

Chobley, we never did a a/b between the two amps but each has their own thing going.

Howdy Gents!!

I had a blast hanging out with you nutjobs again! I agree that we must do this more often! It was great seeing everyone again and getting to play some killer stuff!!

Danny, Thanks so much for the hospitality. I Had a great time up until you decided to sandblast me with beer farts :hys: I guess that was payback for me tooling people up at NAMM :hys:

Scott, you have greatly improved brother and your enthusiasm always rubs off on everyone. I agree that my brother "H" Does bring the Pain for sure! For a guy who never heard most of the soundclips, That fucker can improvise with the best of them.

Dave, That marshall cab sounded killer! Thanks so much for dragging it out! You rule !! Loved the vooddo pickups and your guitar rocks as do you!!

Ivan! You need to get the EC cab loaded with some other speakers! If you have any other speakers laying aroun, I suggest you try them in there first just to see how much of a difference they make. Thanks for the pscho lick from hell!! I played it this morning and laughed my ass off :D

Vultures, It was great to finally meet you. Don't forget to PM me if you need directions on how to direct record the MKIV into your J-station.

Dan Hops!
Thanks so much for ligging all of your crap down (goes fo everyone!)
You have a killer selection of amps and That Cameron just kills. it was my favorite amp of the day! That said, you really need to play bro! I know that you are kick ass guitarist and its time you show every one!!

Andrew!!
Hey bro bro!! I almost forgot you brother! It was great seeing you and the Mrs and congrats ;)

I have said this before but I will ay it again. What a great bunch of people you guys are. Its an honor to know all of you. I think all of you kick ass as guitar players!

can somebody explain the best or at least a good way to Slave the Mesa's?

i've been trolling the Metro board and ended up trying it with mine. i just ran the slave out from one to the front input of the other, and it was kindda cool, but would like to not be able to hear the first amp?

Use a Hotplate type device for the amp you want to slave so that the OT has a load and take the slave out and go to the 2nd amps fx return and use this amp for your master.

You can also run effects in-between this to soak it up good.

And he had a Sovtek Mig that had maybe 75% of the tonal goodness of the modded JCM!
I would actually say its kinda scary how good the Sovtek sounds when tweeked a bit more. I think Ralph would've tweeked it more to your liking. The Sovtek is not as gainy, and a little smoother, but it can get closer than I had it to the 800. I dont tweek amps like Ralph cause I am too much of a pussy to handle that kinda gain   I'll have to try and learn for next time though.

Will do man, I'll write up a PM right after this post. That GMW of yours was killer man, I should've brought my Purple Charvel, so our girly coloured guitars could unite

Third, Slaved Mesa's sound GREAT!

:scared: That had me too, I thought it was neat how you could mess with the EQ on the (Racked) Slaved Mark IV, and get a different tone out of one cab. Sounded really great to contrast or even harmonize with eachother.

The guys on the Metro site are slaving there amps a bit differently then the norm. What I mean is that they are using plexi type amps that have only 2 gain stages and they are sending the signal of one amp into the input of another to increase the gain to 4 gain stages ( which is not the normal way to slave.)

The usual way to slave and amp is to take the direct out of one amp (if the amp has one built in) or the tap of a hotplate device and you send that signal to your effects and then out to a poweramp an speakers cabs.

If you don't want to hear the main amp and you only want to hear the slaved sound, you need to use a load box/ dummy load.(like the thd hotplate set to load, weber mass set to load,Powerbrak..etc etc)

The hookup would be..
Mesa amps speaker out to Hotplate set on load (this makes the main amp silent because there is no speaker hooked up and the hotplate takes the load of the amp)
Then you take the direct out and send that signal to your effects and then to a poweramp or effects return of another amp and out to your speakers.

I hope this helps.

It was definitely cool seeing everyone again. I have to keep this short since I am in training. But the Cameron was AWESOME! I liked the JVM. Wish I could have heard more of it. Thanks Danny for having us over. Finally, sorry I had to bail before everyone played the Herbert.

what would be the point of that ralph? i never understood that, you would get a different sound by using a different poweramp or something? explain!
