I swapped out (2) G12T-75's in my 4x12 for Greenbacks, and with the V30's, I don't know if I've ever had better tone. The Yeti is dialed in, and the Xotic EP Boost in front, pretty much slays! I also dropped in the KT77's out of my JSX, and they KILL in this amp! I thought the Mullard EL34's sounded decent, but the KT77's are the shit. The Yeti goes nowhere. I'd still like a Splawn, but at this point, I think I'll only add one, and hang on to the Ceriatone. VERY pleased, at this point!

One thing I know for sure, any Marshall style amp ALWAYS sounds good to great with greenies. Can't go wrong with them, hell even Mesas sound really good with them. Try swapping the V30s for a pair of 65s and you'll be even more amazed.

I agree. I loved my Friedman cab until i heard the isolated speakers while recording. The Greenbacks sounded so full and 3D while the v30's sounded like a honky mess. Even blending them in slightly made it sound "off". Live, loud and not mic'ed... that combo kills though for some reason

I replaced my v30's with Creamback H75's and all was well again. I even eventually replaced the Greenbacks with H75's i loved them so much.

love greenbacks...i eff'd up and sold my pair to LP Freak couple years ago...as soon as i shipped'em i regretted it.

i've since replaced them though

Greenbacks are cool for sure, just wish they handled more power.

I have been semi looking for a 412 greenback cab. I have alot of 212 cabs and unless I go with 65W scumback M65's, the standard 25W greenbacks just don't have enough power handling for my 40 and 50W heads.

The Heritage loaded GB 412 I have has sounded great with every amp I've put through it. I've been running the GB 412 together with a G12K100 loaded 2x12 sitting on top and that sounds AMAZING. The 2x12 brings more presence/bite while adding another 200w handling capability while the GBs bring the low mids/deep low end. You'd think the difference in efficiency would come across as being weird, but it seems to work.

I've always wondered about the power handling on Greenbacks . Some people say your cab should have twice the power handling oh your amp head . Would a 4x12 with G12M Creambacks give you about the same tone as a 4x12 of 25 watt greenbacks with more power handling .

The EVH head is 100 watts, the cab is 80! Hendrix Marshall heads were paired with 100 watt cabs?

It's been said that Celestion grossly underrates their speakers.

Not sure if you were referring to the EVH 412 being 80 watts, but the EVH 412 is 100 watt. Those speakers are EVH (a.k.a) Heritage GBs labeled 20 watt for historical marketing. They are actually 25w each.

I guess it depends on which speaker. I've heard of A LOT of people blowing up their Blues with Vox AC15's and 30's.

Yeah, but the "actually" list them as 20, but rate the cab 100. https://celestion.com/product/28/g12_evh/

I know right. I've come across more than one thread on TGP where a Celestion rep confirmed they are labeled 20w but are indeed 25w speakers. Gotta love marketing

they are. i think this is why i like my evh combo 2x12 so damn much. the cab construction and greenbacks.

Glad you've found the best speakers for your Yeti. If properly matched it really kills in terms of tone. Also consider a tube swap, some love Tung Sol 12ax7s in that beast

I've got a Tungsol in V2, Mullard CV4004 in V1 and V3.

But could it be said that Vox underrates their 15 and 30 watts as well? I think the AC30 is the loudest 2x12 combo I've ever heard :D

After playing V30s for so long, GBs were just too polite lol! I also did not dig the excessive cone breakup with increased gain and volume when playing modern metal styles.
I'd like to try them again, but this time the EVH ones.
