All of Jordans records will be broken some day. No one will ever touch Gretzky.

Yep, not even a contest.

Jordan in his prime couldn't hang against today's players.

You really don't mean that do you? Regardless though, I think there were others players close to Jordan. Russell won 10 NBA crowns, Jordan won 6. Kareem is the all time scoring leader. But I think Wilt Chamberlain was the most dominant basketball player ever.

Seeing how today's NHL defense men are much better skaters, I'd say that Gretzky in his prime couldn't duplicate his numbers today either. He'd be a top guy, no question, but 92 goals in a season? 215 points in a season? No.

Some of you guys are delusional. Jordan couldn't hang with today's players? What?! No one will break his records, ever. Greatest player to ever play the game.

The them vs today league arguments are ridiculous considering that if Gretzky were to have grown up with the training the kids receive today, he'd be just as dominant as he was in the 80's... now that said would he have tallied the same amount of points/records that he did in the 80's? Absolutely no way.. but he'd def be a force and as dominant as Crosby is. The largest difference between the 80's game and today's game is clearly the goaltending. Gretzky scored some pretty horrible beer league esque goals on goalies who wore smaller pads and hadn't switched to the butterfly style yet.. Jordan played against a net. The net hasn't changed.... The answer is still clearly Gretzky but to suggest Jordan in his prime couldn't hang with the guys that are out there today is pretty ridiculous. There is a reason why players today still hold those guys in high esteem. People always forget that Gretzky had a killer accurate shot and and that Jordan had crazy air time. Put them in today's game and they still have their vision and physical abilities.

Yea, I do mean it.

Pro basketball players have been getting noticeably better over the past 30 years. Guys like Jordan and Wilt played above their competition, but wouldn't compared to today's players. Lebron would dominate Kareem. Wilt wouldn't stand out. And Micheal Jordan would still be as graceful and a great player, but wouldn't stand out today like he did 20 years ago.

Hockey players have more fully developed into what is likely the top of their particular game. And Gretzy still shines as someone who will likely never be seen again.

That's the dumbest thing that anybody has ever said on the internet...no contest.

That said, Gretzky would likely have trouble replicating his feats due to the way the game has changed. The only reason he has a higher PPG average than Lemieux is due to Mario's return to the game after he had retired.

Jordan was great and totally clutch, but a better comparison to Gretzky is Wilt.
Wilt dominated as an athletic 7 footer and literally changed the game- the league imposed dozens of rules to stop Wilt. He used to to tale his free throws by running to the line and flying for a dunk. Same with inbounds passing; he would inbound by leaping and dunking.
Gretzky took all the records and practically DOUBLED them. That is by far my favorite era of hockey. 92 goals, 200+ points in a season! Unreal.

Orr, Bourque and Neely.

In all seriousness, I'm going Gretzky.

I'm sure if you tried, even just a little bit, you could find something on the internet that bothers you more.

Jordan would dominate Gretzky on the basketball court
Gretzky would dominate Jordan on the ice.

both were the best at what they did back in their primes.

There is no evidence to support your theory. ;)

I think you're way off. Jordan would be even better now because they hardly let them play defense anymore just like every other sport. Jordan is 10 times the better shooter than LeBron will ever be and he dominated series finals like nobody else. And Jordan did play defense almost as good as his offense back then. I watched all his finals and he would easily dominate today. And look at the East, the whole conference stinks aside from Miami and Indy and you think Jordan wouldn't dominate this crappy league?
