I just saw Dick Dale over the weekend. Took my dad. Dude can still jam at 79.

Always given props to Wes Borland. Generally all round creative guy who seems to prefer to push his creativity rather than his technical facility.

Lotsa' great ones posted and I have a buinch though I gotta' single out Davey Johnstone as posted earlier. Great chops & not a guy that cared much about the spotlight since Elton was the draw.

Was just listening to REO's "Hi Infidelity"...man, there is some great guitar work on that record...

Ace Frehley, especially on Kiss Alive....nothing to say to say 'wow what an innovative player' ...but it's still awesome.

Ace doesn't count man! He was a huge rock star that was idolized by millions of up and coming guitarists! Not sayin' I don't like him, but man he has always been on the "list" of who famous rock dudes name as influences.

His tone and style is amazing! Kiss is not the same without him. He's a huge influence for me.

I think Oz Fox from Stryper is severely under rated.

Great thread!!!

I'll throw in:

Amir Derakh and Chris Hager - Rough Cutt
Derek Frigo - Enuff Z 'Nuff

I used to get shit for being into Ace Frehley when I was a kid. Now I realize I was right. Dude had tone and phrasing. Not a bad vibrato either.
