Guitar pick

I need your help.
Probably - I must verify my pick.
I used a 0.73 mm Tortex for a long time (Megadave is using them so I gave them a try). These days I was hipnotized by RIP CD - mainly riffs.
Later , I was under influence of Yngwie ( 1.5mm Tortex ) , Alexi ( Jazz III) , Zakk ( Dunlop Tortex Sharp). From these moment became more a lead player. I picked Dunlop Jazz III and they are brilliant for soloing but ... unfortunately - pain in the ass when I want to make some riffs....

I wondered about Dunlop Tortex 0.88 (green ones). As far as I know - Guitar God (also known as Dimebag Darell) used them , so maybe they will be perfect ?


There are shitload of various picks etc etc so I don't know where to begin , one of you guys was in similar situation so i will be very pleased if someone just give me a few pick examples. This will spare me time and my money.

I just want to have a limited choice - it will be much more easier to me to find my ideal pick.
There are few details :
-25.5 scale
-Now I use a 11-56 ( Daddario EXL 117) in Drop C.
-I Do lot of tremolo picking on low E string , power chords , sweeping and pinch harmonics.
 
The cost?

Hit guitar center and get $20 worth of pics. The counter guy probably has an opinion and helps people with the sme question 125 times every Saturday :)

I bought a pack of Dunlop tortex green, blue, purple and pick up whatever is handy. A local radio station was giving away some random cheap thick pics that are my fav, how hilarious is that.

I keep hearing about a jazz pic. My life and tone quest is not complete lacking this jazz pic experience. Thick nubby triangle of tonal bliss be damned....
 
I was on the hunt for years for a perfect pick. I found it in these. But that's just my opinion.

Not , this is just plain print. Probably very shitty ink or something.
Yellow tortex was terrible due to this. After 30 minutes of playing - black fingers ;)

Unofrtunately i worn them to fast.I twas like two songs with one pick.
Now i use the Dunlop Ultex Sharp 1.14
Best picks in my opinion.
It depends what you play and how you play.I couldn´t play 0.73 like Dave or 0.60 like Hannemann.I pick to hard.

But notice - Hannemann use a 9-42 in E flat ... and 10-46 in C sharp ! And he is picking like a maniac with whole hand.

I've found a 0.88 Tortex in my little "guitar things box". I tried it. And well , feels really big for me ( I'm used to play Jazz III...) , playability was ok but I wasn't satisfied with the tone - too "click-clack" , lack of fatness and warmth( Like JIII for example)
 
You mean he is picking with his whole forearm.
I know what you mean.Because of the sharp tip point of the pick it can sound to clicky.One way to eliminate that clicky is to lower the treble on the amp because the pick changes the tone a bit.Not as drastical like different Pickups but it changes.
I use 11-49 in E flat and 11-52 in D standard so the Ultex Sharp are "perfect" for me.I use the Blackfang Picks in 1.14 and they feel right to me.
I tried the Jazz III but they too small for me so i tried the Jazz III XL.Great Picks especially for Leads but i like the Ultex Sharp better when it comes to play rhythm.
But again it is all personal.
 
Depending on the song, I use either Dunlop Ultex Jazz III's, Dunlop Ultex 2.0 mm, or Dunlop Ultex 1.0 mm (rarely). I tend to have a light touch so I need a heavier pick to generate the electricity. Plus the Ultex lasts WAY longer than any other material I've used. Great for precision picking and heavy riffing.

I pick a few various ultex. I see many people recommend them.
 
I use the Ultinex 1.0. They have been great for my playing style.
 
I go through phases...purple tortex has been my go-to pick forever. I tried jazz picks but they feel... weird. After using a regular pick the jazz style picks make the gaps between strings seem huge. I did buy some of the planet waves jazz-style picks and made myself play them for a while and got to where I liked them. Old habits die hard tho, I'm back on the tortex.

A few months back I got caught up in they hype and bought a Red Bear pick because Andy Wood was playing one. Stupid expensive but AMAZING pick. Downside is when you pay that much for it you're almost scared to gig with it!
 
I try other things but always end up back at the yellow tortex. Nothing else feels quit so right!
 
Once I tried these planet waves picks my search for picks was over. The raised logos on these just feel perfect to me. Love the way they grip. Maybe not for everyone but worth a try if you're looking to try different picks.

lighter than nylon and lasts forever. No plastic pixie dust all over my pickups and pickup rings as they are hand made from solid acrylic.
 
I like the Dunlop Jazz IIIs with the matte finish, although I have only played Fender Celluloid and Dunlop Tortex in the past.
 
I'm a HUGE fan of the Dimension Jr. by V-picks its fat but once you get used to it you'll never go back
