Ive been using Jazz III's pretty much my whole life and have always been a thick pick kinda guy anyway. Then i accidentally bought a pack of these not knowing how light they were, and i love them. No more Jazz III's.

Got them in and tried a few out. The JazzIII's are too thick and too small for me. The snarling dogs feel very similar to the Dunlop nylon picks, they feel plasticy, they are okay. Really liked the .88 Tortex. Similar to the Fender Heavy picks I was using, but is not turning into pick dust like the Fenders did. the 0.73 Dunlop Tortex are not in yet....

I use the 2mm black gator grip Dunlops. Although, I can't help to feel that they might be robbing me of some high end, and some of that pick 'chirp.'

I actually have tried the Ultex, but they didn't have the 2mm ones when I did. Maybe those would do it for me!? Thanks!!!

Well let me just say that I have the ability to make guitar picks disappear -but unfortunately I don't know when. Sometimes you can find them again- but sometimes they completely disappear- they just " wink out of existence".
What do you mean you can ALL do that ?
I agree on the fast wear of the Fenders and the WAY they wear- they start sounding "scratchy".
The Tortex wear slower and smoother-try the greens ,blues and maybe purple if you like em thick.

I use the Jim Dunlop tortex blues.... Wear smooth, hold great, cheap.
If it's more riffing and soloing, typically I go with a JD nylon, same gauge.

Great Thread!!! Dunlop Jazz III 's here RED in color cause they are easier to find.
Thick pick and small in size with a pointy tip.
I'll have to give some of the picks mentioned a try!

i dont think you should choose a pick based on how long it lasts.....i mean cmon its a friggin pick! play what feels right. i use the jazz III ultex as well, to my ears they sound better than the reds and blacks. although i still think the blacks sound better than red, these ultex sound better than both. if you feel they are too small for you they also make jazz III XL's which are pretty close in size to a standard pick

I have been buying the Fenders all these years cause that is what I used in the past, not because they were the best. So far the dunlop tortex feel as good and aren't grinding down as quickly.
