Petrucci Jazz III. I've switched from red jazz III to those and won't go back.

The great thing about picks is that they are cheap and easy to experiment with.
I've was using the Ultex ones for a long while but they get chewed like no ones business by my playing. I switched to the Primetone 1.0 and they have been fine and last a bit longer. Move down slightly to a lighter guage. Going to try out those Davia picks with the metal tip for some fun as well.

Petrucci Jazz III. I've switched from red jazz III to those and won't go back.

+1, currently my favorite atm. Switched over from the Jazz III to these. They feel comfortable and easy to grip.

For 25 years I used the Dunlop Tortex .60mm (The Orange ones) about 5 Months ago I started using the Dunlop tortex .73mm (the yellow ones) & I started using that by accident. the .73 is faster off the string & has a little less flex than the .60.

Totally the same as you lol. Been using these same very two picks since forever...only I'm always torn between the two. For me, the orange one is a little easier for alternate picking on the E B G strings yet a tad too flimsy on the lower three and then naturally the yellow pick is great for the D A E strings but clumsy on the upper three ha! I can't find a happy middle ground and often end up changing the way I play scales depending on which pick I grabbed.

I also go through spells where I love the "Pickboy" brand. They have a carbon nylon pick that is very similar to the Dunlop Jazz III everyone loves but with a better feel (to me).

I Can completely understand exactly what you are saying. It took me a while to get used to the way the .73 felt against the strings...I was afraid to down pick since i'm heavy handed.

Just got these swiss picks in the mail, got to say, I love them already, feel very sturdy and durable while also looking cool

When I started playing, I bought a GFTPM magazine with Hetfield and Hammett interview and Hetfield said he used green Tortex. So, I used those for years. Moved up to blue Totex a couple years ago and see no reason to change.

The Petrucci Jazz III is so different from a red/black Jazz III that I'm surprised they even call it a Jazz III. It is considerably bigger and is not made of the same material (not even close). The Petrucci Jazz III material is very glassy compared to the red/black/KH/JB/EJ materials. The Petrucci feels really good to me and the size is nice (it's still not Fender-sized) but the glassy material is very 'clicky' on the strings. That's prob due to shitty technique but the reality was that it didn't quite work for me. I had a similar issue with the Pickboys I tried.

the green tortex pics. The 2MM tortex pics and these weird picks called Dava Control picks. Every so often I'll use a V pick, but its not normal and they are quite expensive.

Tortex, nylon, Ultex...they each sound different to me and each have their our character when it comes to their attack.
