Guitar Prices

I get it. Prices are inflated. It’s been that way since COVID days. Maybe before. Sucks, but that’s where we are at. I’m at the stage where I need to downsize (I hate it, mostly because it’s just a PIA, and I want to land on a few “keeper” guitars and amps. $6k+ for a Les Paul Access? 😒

Stop obsessing over branding. There's hundreds of small builders out there that will build you a far better guitar than a Gibson for far less money. Stop viewing guitars as something to invest in. Work on re-programming your brain against marketing.

Buy used? So many whine and moan about guitar prices but I find them slightly used sometimes for half the price of the new one..

Until you inevitably, eventually have to sell the guitar, and then all of the sudden none of the small builder guitars you so intelligently bought are worth a pile of dogshit :hys:

The LP axcess has always been stupid expensive - as well as difficult to source/find. If you don't want to spend that much on one, I'm sure LTD makes an eclipse with floyds - I know i've seen EII eclipses with them.

That's the point, stop buying guitars as investments or some stupid consoom dopamine fix. Figure out what you actually like.

Yes if you buy new. But if you buy used the depreciation hit has already been taken..same with amps..so what am I missing here?

You mean like the fucking retarded CONSOOM dopamine fix people get from buying 420943 cheap chinese slave labor shit guitars that some fucking retarded youtOOOBer shills to them every second of every day? And then inevitably ends up in a landfill because no one would buy your piece of shit Grote or Firefly on facebook marketplace?

That's great advice, make sure and waste as much money as humanly possible on every purchase you make, and then get nothing on the back end

I don’t buy as an investment, it’s far more common to get woo’ed by a guitar and buy it, then fall out of love with it a little while later. Having something I can flip helps to cycle through different guitars in the search for the keepers.

I'd rather have the good shit in my collection now than try to buy it when I'm 50 or something....if I even live that long😂

It's often the same with 4K amps. Not always the case, but if it's something that is pretty easy to find, it will sell for 2,500-3K on the used market.

The sales world in about every catagory has slowed like molasses in Februrary.
I do 500 mile searches for gear every day and its been the same overprices chump-change stuff for months and nothing is selling.
Good thing we got a "businessman" in charge.

Like i said before though, why is EVERYTHING so damn expensive? Guitars are just one part of it. I think companies just raise prices because everyone else is doing it.

I'm sure some of this is fallout of different things like covid, tariffs, etc. but only so much of that can affect the overall price.

But, I will pay a higher price for a solid guitar. I'm a Gibson fan so I will get a Les Paul and feel great about owning it and will enjoy it. Sometimes I'll buy used though or sell some things to get what I want. I think companies should fine ways to save us a little money though.

It's ALL because of the Federal Reserve.
