You can start at 48th street. Its like the music store capital of NY!

Then there are other shops that you can go in the village like 30th street guitars and Matt umanov guitars.

hope this helps

Signed!!

Rudy's has great gear but their sales people including Rudy are a bunch of pricks. 30th street has some nice vintage stuff. I know Manny's sells Andersons so you might be able to find some pups there. Good luck

Hook up with Kage and have him take you to Luddlow Guitars, near his house. I had one of the best experiences with shop monkeys ever there, and Kage will agree.

Guitar Asylum sells lots of high end stuff, but their prices are pretty ridiculous.

I'd have to say that 48th St. really seems to suck now. There has been a lot of consolidation and all the cool little used shops seem to be gone now. I don't think you are gonna get particularly good prices on new gear in the middle of Manhattan either. Think about their overhead...

+1 to all especially the last part, you hit it on the head bro...

Is 48th Street Custom Guitars still there?? I bought my ESP Lynch Tiger there back in 1988, when all of the ESP guitars that came into the USA went through that shop. Those guys were super nice. Gave a full tour and showed all of the upcoming ESP models.

No man. 48th is gone. Been gone for about 10 years now. Sam Ash bought the space from them and it's their Recording Pro Audio section now. My friend Don Jiminez use to work there. I use to love that store. I met Akira Takasaki, Vernon Reid and Bruce Kulick there. It use to be a great place.

That sucks! Those guys were super cool. When I bought my Lynch, they showed me pics of George when he was in the week before I got there. They were just coming up with one of the new Lynch models at that time (the neon colored Kami ESP with the maple fretboard).

Hey Slay - I still have your old XXL combo!!

No, both just far enough in LI so brands do not get pissed.

Guitar Asylum only has Rocky Point now. They closed Hauppauge.
Peda geek in Lake Succes has a boatload of high end gear. Its just over the Queens Border.
30th Street has great stuff but loads of attiitude only exceeded by thier prices.

You still have it? Good to hear how do like it? I'm thinking about getting another one. To me it's best sounding SS amp around.

The Music Zoo also is in Queens NY about 30 minutes from the City.

The XXL is certainly under-rated. It's a really good sounding amp! I wish I had the head instead of the combo, but I just plug it into one of my cabs and it sounds great!
