Im neutral on this, although I am ok with how it is. Change is ok, everthing else in life continues to evolve. I have been heavily into amps mainly and Ive learned alot and im just now starting to get guitar gas which is different for me because I've been good with LP's for so long playing down tuned stuff and now really diggin the charvels again 20 yrs later with standard tuning ,/,,/

I don't see any reason to split them up. But I think the classifieds should be split up like this:

Amps
Guitars
Accessories (like pickups and guitar parts and stuff)
Pedals & Effects
Studio equipment

And also a separate section for Europe, you don't have to split up that section in categories.

If you're looking to buy something you most probably know what you're looking for, so I think it will be more effective to have separate categories for the classifieds. If I'm looking for a pair of studio monitors it's easier for me to search one section rather than scrolling through hundreds of threads with guitars and amps for sale, and vice versa.

When you're browsing the forum to discuss it's better to have everything in the same category IMO. Since most people are probably not planning what they're going to discuss, if the do they will use the search function or start a new thread.

I will chime in to say I prefer the idea of it all guitars, amps, pedals being combined on the main RT forum. This way you don't have to click onto a bunch of different sub-forums to talk about music gear.

Regardless, I will go with the flow.

Same with me, I like having everything all in one forum, not split into a subforum.

I think it's a great idea! I'm a "home studio guitarist" who's in love with his '57 Champ Reissue, so I have little need to talk much about amps. Much more interested in geeking out over guitars.

I have to agree w/ this too....although Ill be fine either way w/it, as I see it This site, called "Rig Talk" entails all musical items in a musicians "rig" to talk about,whether its guitars or amps, its all in your "rig"
