You gotta respect that. When someone knows their sound so well that they will not stray from a specific guitar or amplifier their whole careers. That said, i don't know of too many guitarists that do that?? can you name any?? Kerry King from Slayer has used JCM 800's (2203) his whole career, and i believe B.C. Rich guitars for most of it too...

Why do you gotta respect that?

I would have loved to see him and for example Zakk Wylde with other gear.

Yngwie pretty much has had his current rig for at least the past 20 years or so ... :scared:

He's been playing strats into marshall plexis since the 70s.

I don't understand why some players don't get bored and change things up. Then again... you've got players like George Lynch and Neil Schon who change up their gear so much it's almost silly. And yet... no matter what they're playing... they sound just like themselves.

I finally slowed-down a bit on the GAS thing when I realized that despite my revolving door of nice guitars and boutique amps... I always sounded just like me at the end of the day. So I rolled back to a Fender Twin for cleans and Marshall plexis (Ceriatone clones) for my dirt. I yam what I yam...

Robben Ford has had and used his same Dumble since the early/mid 80's.

He has another Dumble and some Fenders, but that main one is on all the records and SW gigs.

Big artists like Yngwie (legend) are not like you and I. They have a brand. It's a business. They hit big and understood that it was because of a certain set of circumstances and tools. Don't mess with what made you successful.

Richard z. Kruspe from Rammstein has been playing pretty much the same rig his whole career.

People change. Why wouldn't their choice in gear? And if they don't, what's to "respect"?

Dimebag made solid state Randall his signature tone. The only reason he switched at the end was because he was leaving Washburn, and usmusic owned Washburn and Randall.

And love or hate his tone, he made it his bitch. Hell, he even got a signature pickup as part of it.

There's nothing wrong with changing
There's nothing wrong with keeping the same gear
I don't see what respect has to do with it
If someone wants to play with a stripped down setup or 200K$ worth of gear up on the stage, it's also their own business. All good
