Yeah - I give them props. We saw them maybe 5 years ago, or whenever that last big tour was, and they were running around and jumping. Doing that night after night for 3 hours with a guitar strapped on in hot lights has to be taxing. Plus the travel. You don't have to like them to give props where they are due.

I saw that same tour in Dallas, Texas.

Funny thing about this. I always went to see Aerosmith for the opening acts. GNR, Skid Row, Dokken, etc...

I am not knocking Aerosmith in any way at all. I love them too. For me they are just ONE band that if I have seen them once, I am good to go.

Me too. Pocono Downs. It was a muddy mess. Good times. Saw them again on Use your illusion tour at the Suncoast Dome and they were amazing then. That show is actually on Youtube. They were in their prime that night.
 
First saw them in 1987 opening for The Cult . GNRs set that night remains one of the best I’ve seen over the years. You had to be there , they kicked all kinds of ass

I agree and give them props for getting in shape, that doesn’t have to mean they are all hopped up on drugs. That will work for a night, maybe several but the body ends up paying the piper eventually.

They might be on something. When I saw them slash rarely moved . He was like a statue then

I didn't mean to put them down at all and I have nothing against drugs anyway. I just found them very impressive, compared to a lot of other bands. Whatever they're on, be it fresh carrot juice or anything stronger, it does work. That is all ! The whole show was awesome. Some french tabloid did a review the next day and wrote "The show was dantean !" (y)
 
Meh, how long are they going to keep at it without any new music? They are milking all the covers and first album. I thought they played great when i saw them but they need new material imo.
 
I would actually prefer watching a band that didn't play any new shit and just played all the favorite classics .
 
I guess it's impossible to please everyone. Tough crowd ! :ROFLMAO:
 
That’s pretty damn impressive they’re playing sets for that fucking long, I’m surprised Axl would even agree to that knowing the kind of hell it’d be to tour like that. I’d definitely cut them a bit of slack in regards to imperfection with show lengths like that.

Jesus, my first band practice after getting a Les Paul and I was starting to whine after an hour and a half when I realize LP weight is no joke. :ROFLMAO:

A good hour of that is probably extended jams though. My one take away is that SLASH played WAY too much for a guy of his ability. He was always a fantastic player in the context of what he wrote for the song but less a solo spot guy like YJM or Lynch. Yet, he has this monster solo spot and then goes off on outro solos all over the place and I thought yeah i get it, the same patterns over and over in that super choppy phrasing he is known for. It's cool.... but not when you don't know when to stop. It does seem like he has gotten better technically over time but there is still a ceiling for his virtuosity and he has reached it.

Yeah, I got no probs with Slash but I’d definitely agree with that. Some dudes can get gold out of the fingers all day long, he seems more the type to stumble on something. Not everyone can be Gilmour. :ROFLMAO:

I think I would agree - especially if the new songs are not that great. Depends right? I'm not going to name names here but we all know quite a few. In those cases, especially on a normal 1 hour set, the more classics they can pack into the set the better. VS, trying to fit in 3 or 4 new songs that suck.

To tell the truth, they played some tunes from Chinese Democracy (or maybe newer tunes, I'm not sure) I think I never heard before and sounded totally uninteresting but they also played ALL the classics so I don't mind the fillers. That's the whole point of the three hours and a half set LOL
