Have any of you guys compared these pedals with each other? Which did you prefer and why? So far the Phalanx has been my favorite of the gates I've tried. I’ve had before the Zuul, Endless Blockade, Lichtlaerm, Cockblocker, ISP Decimator I & 2, and Boss NS-2. Some guys have said they liked the mini Zuul better than the regular Zuul? Why is that? I liked the Phalanx better than the regular Zuul I had

Also, if any of you guys had the Atlantic Thelema, would love to hear your thoughts on that one compared to the others

I had the mini zuul and the regular zuul and didn't notice any difference between the two.

I have a deadweald Golum showing up next week to replace my Zuul. I have pretty high hopes based on feature set.

Nice, will be interesting to see how you like it compared to the Zuul. I’m also curious about the Wizard Gate, but who knows when it’ll actually be released

I've heard rumors that KSR are developing a gate as well. I would really be interested in that.

This is supposed to be a multi channel gate and can function as a splitter. He also handwound some transformers for this pedal so I'm really curious as what that will accomplish but it's nice to see a new noise gate and not a variation of what's already out there.

Anyone else here have experience comparing these gates?

I had the Zuul.. Got a Guul.. Sold the Zuul.

In my experience, the Guul was just as good as the Zuul but almost at 1/2 the price. Setup is Dead quiet. not blip or cutting of signal even on clean.

i actually had GUP Tech build me a custom boost and Delay with the Guul circuit separate into it. 3 pedals in one.

Btw I've also had the Boss NS2 and ISP G-string in the past.

If I were to put them in order from (my opinion) best to worst:
1 - Guul and Zuul (Guul for Price though)
2 - ISP G-string
3 - Boss NS2

Having the Key input on th Guul and Zuul really helps with leaving the gate ON with clean channel of an amp. Where the ISP if used with a really noisy amp could affect the cleans sustain. Same for the NS2.

Just my 2 cents ?

Forgot to mention above with point 1 for Both Guul and Zuul. They're both great noise gates for players who want to quiet down a highgain beast and still utilize the clean channel while leaving the Noise Gate ON. However, after trying the Guul ($180 CAD), I cant justify paying over $300 CAD for a noise gate like the Zuul or other brands.

Anyone else have experience comparing the 3 pedals I mentioned?

I guess no one else has anything to say, but I just got today a Guul, so will chime in since comparing it with my Phalanx and Cock Blocker. The Phalanx is the most transparent/least tone suck of the 3 (still some though) and has a bit more natural feel to me of the 3. It can’t gate though quite as immediately fast as the other 2 though, but that won’t matter to most guys unless you want that modern, tight start/stop effect, which I do sometimes like and that’s where the other 2 shine. The Cockblocker can get the tightest/fastest of the 3, but the Guul isn’t far behind. The Guul I guess fits in between the 2. It though is the least transparent/most colored sounding of the bunch. It adds this more compressed, modern voicing to my amps, but not necessarily in a bad way imo. The Phalanx is my overall favorite of the 3. I’m keeping all 3 for now

Still curious about the Thelema and not yet released Wizard, Deadweald and KSR gate. If any of you guys have any info on those ones in comparison please share. Would be curious if any of those ones are either more transparent, can gate faster or have any other advantages over the 3 I have

The deadweald uses a different chip vs the zuul so its not a clone. It has a key in and output plus an Isolated out. The sweep is more useful than the zuul. For example you can pretty much put it one 9 without it choking notes. I always preferred the zuul over the ISP or the ns-2(the only gates I've used). I prefer the Deadweald over all 3.

It's also 2 channels which I have been using one channel for single coils and the other for humbuckers. I plan on using a setting for rhythm and one for leads.

I haven't heard anything about a ksr gate from the horses mouth only rumors. I am sure that Kyle will put out a unique gate that will be great. I will probably grab one to use on another pedalboard if I don't get another Deadweald Golem.

Interesting. How would the zuul in your opinion compare to the deadweald in tone suckage/transparency and which can gate faster for real tight stop and start stuff? The Guul I have is a bit better than I recall the Zuul being, but it’s a been a while now
