Every Anderson I've played has had incredible fretwork and played effortlessly and smooth. His pickups are hit or miss.

I have one on order, a guardian angel with a flame top. s/s/h config with the bridge that looks like a first gen floyd. This my second Anderson, first is a Pro Am with a FR, H/H and a single volume knob. Best neck I've every played. They make exceptional guitars.

Are you talking about the Floyd without the fine tuners? I saw an Angel model with a bridge like that for sale.
Do you have any info on the specific bridge used by Anderson? Is it a custom bridge built for them?

Thanks!

Wow... cool.. i have a Jackson sl2h and yup it plays well enough without buzz... but wonder if an Anderson Angel be a way better guitar on a lower action without buzz and plays comfortably ? I wonder if an Anderson Angel or a Japanese made Strandberg be better ?

A Tom Anderson isn´t a significantly better guitar than a SL2H, no. It might have slightly better fretwork from factory, but give it a year or two and a change in weather and they´re both only as good as you can tweak them. At this level it´s mainly down to individual guitars and preference.

Thanks Dave for answering... but how about the tone ? Is Anderson more organic than a jackson sl2h ?

+1

I own several of each. For straight up shred-a-bility I still prefer my USA Jackson Customs. TA is my favorite Custom bolt-on builder.

I've got one and its one of my favorite guitars Ive owned. Ive been through 30+ guitars in the last couple years and this TA has been with me longer than any other so that should say something. As far as tone, its a swiss army knife guitar. Super versatile and you could literally play an entire cover gig with just this one piece. The neck carve on mine is TA's most popular carve, the even taper. It WAAYYY comfortable for me. The quality of the build is just what you would expect for a $3900 guitar, flawless flawless flawless. Mine has the nicest quilt Ive ever seen on a guitar

Love that guitar. It matches your flower pattern quilt!

I haven't owned a Jackson so I cannot compare it, I have owned ESP,Suhr,Vigier,Charvel EVH and Washburn N4s, Parker niteflys, ect and I like TA's the best. Tom checks every guitar himself and they have all felt great to play. Most guitars I can find a reason or two to feel "it's not quite there in tone or feel/playability" but very rarely a TA. The one TA I didn't bond with had a Walnut top that made it very bright or "pingy" when played.

The Bowling Ball is a 2014 I believe.

I wouldn´t call the Anderson tone more organic, but it is more balanced. Less mid-focus than the typical Duncan JB tone you´d expect from a Jackson, so a bit less bark and a much wider sound. I suppose the basswood/maple-top combo Tom (and Suhr) likes probably helps with that too.

I own an Anderson Angel Player, Satin Black Finish, Alder Body with Chocolate Maple Neck with Satin Back, Jumbo Frets with Buzz Feiten Tuning System. It has HC1+ and HC3+ Pickups
I cant find the right words to describe this guitar, this Satin Finish of the body and neck has a great feel, the workmanship is flawless flawless flawless. There is not 1 problem with this guitar. I can go on and rave about the neck, it plays like butter and so on. But what me suprised, this guitar resonates and has sustain for days (as long as your Floyd Rose admits), it is the body neck joint which is kinda like a mixture between a set neck and a bolt on neck. Crazy good guitar. Go and try one if you can.
