I had the Wizard MTL MKII and Hellion and sold the Wizard in favor of the Hellion. I found tones on the Wizard that I could replicate in the Hellion but the Hellion had more voicing options. So wish the Hellion had midi so I could save some preset sounds, but to my ear I found the Hellion more modern voiced with increased options.
The hellion is a different sounding amp. Tightest amp i have ever played. I prefer mtl voicing to it, though. To be fair, i have only had them back to back once, and have played mtl many more times

Yeah man. The Wizard has its own voicing that’s unique for sure. I guess I’m just getting used to amps that have a hundred different options to sculpt. I’m noticing that pattern with everything I buy. I used to love “set and forget” like a 5150, but becoming more experimental in my advanced years. Haha

I am opposite. I try to dial in 'my' sound, which is clarity in high gain and meaty, then just try to get better at guitar. I will say i am much better at dialing in that playing, lmao

I've got both of these and prefer the Hellion for its crunchier low end in comparison. Considering selling my MTL.
Also as good as Wizards are, their mids still always feel lacking compared to the rest of the amp. The Hellion doesn't have this problem.
At the end of the day I think it's a question of which voicing do you prefer. They're both going to give you all the gain you want and are both percussive as fuck.
