Ok so recently sold my evh head and cab cause I wanna try something new. So the idea of everything in one solution and that blue light is very appealing to me     . But I'm not really a huge fan of el84. Who has played, owned this amp. Will it sound thin like most low wattage amp?
Thanks!!!!!

I own a tubemeister 18 and have played the tubemeister 36 and the Grandmeister. I liked all of them a lot........ at first. The more I switched back to my amps that had EL34's,6L6's, or 6V6's I realized the things I didn't like about the "meister" series as well as EL84's. While they sound less fizzy then some EL84 loaded amps, I could still hear somethings that were a bit of a turn off. The clean channel is the best part of the amp IMO. If you see a tubemeister 18 or 36 try it out. I AB'd the two between the GM and they will give you a good idea of what the GM will do. Obviously the GM has more bells and whistles but you probably could fine something better in that price range. Especially if our not a huge fan of EL84's

In my opinion the best in that price range is the evh. I also have a Mesa rectoverb 25,is a good amp but the evh eat it for breakfast. I wouldn't mind buying another one

I have a TM 18, 36, and a Grandmeister. I run them through a Mesa Recto 2x12, 4x12, and a Red Bear 4x12. Thin and fizzy would never be terms I would use to describe them at stage volumes. The first time I played one I was impressed by how massive they sound. If you don't like EL84s they may not be your thing, but you should try one out. The 36 watters sound better than the 18. The third tube does make a difference.

With the variety of tones, full midi capability, built in effects and the power soak you'd be hard pressed to find anything like it in it's price range honestly.

I've been gigging with the Meister series (only running 18 watts) now for over a year now. I have a Red Bear, Triple Rec, 6505+, Peavey Ultra, Blackstar HT100, 2 H&K Switchblades and a Triamp MKII sitting on the bench. It's so much easier to get a great, full tone at club volumes.

I heard one last night at a local show my band played at. One guitarist had a Mark V and Axe FX - the other had a GM 36. They both sounded awesome, so that should be a testament on how the GM can stack up to a Mark V. Very heavy sounding if you want it to be. Didn't care too much for the H&K 4x12 he was playing it through, but still sounded damn good, and LOUD.

The last 4 amps I bought (and still own) were 50 watts or less, and honestly I don't think I'd ever have the need to buy one with more wattage. I've even gigged with a 20 watt EL84 Friedman modded Jet City and still pulled it off. The GM 36 is definitely on my "next amp to buy" list after hearing it in a full live band context.

Id like to hear how the 36 stacks up to the MKV25..

curious about the grandmeister too , seems like a simple grab and go .

To those that own can the Ultra channel get anywhere near this tone??
