We can officially put an asterisk on the 04 and 07 Series. I'm glad that FINALLY, a high profile Sox player takes the hit.

But, it's yet another black eye for baseball.
Only a Yankee fan would think that a single hitter using steriods could win their team a world championship
The Red Sox won those championship's because they had pitching and defense.
BTW, Manny doesnt currently play for the RED SOX
Clearly you know more about the game then that danny...

This whole steroid shit is so out of control. You have to put an asterisk on every player from this whole era of baseball. It's impossible to say who's been clean and who hasn't. They need a zero tolerance policy to fix this. You get caught once and you're out of the game for good.

I would agree with that but it is funny to watch the pathetic attempts of yankee fans to discredit the Red Sox dominance this decade..

Just a word to address the idea that Red Sox WS victories would be tarnished by Manny's use of a banned substance..
Manny Ramirez never tested positive for any banned substance during his time as a Red Sox. Not in '04 or in '07.
As a matter of fact, no Red Sox player has since the new manangement has been set in place.

For every non-steriod using Sox player, there's several documented Yankee players that have used steriods and banned substances during championship years. ;) The mitchell report should have had pinstripes on the cover for christ's sake.

I honestly don't even care if he, or anyone else, used steroids. I'm sure there are a lot of guys on every team who use or have used them, so it's a moot point really. I do think it's funny when guys like A-Rod get busted though, because he's a gigantic tool and plays for the Yankees.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Manny Ramirez has been suspended for 50 games after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

glad the Sox dumped him when they did.

No Manny = no rings. Even Ortiz said it last year, can't get a better inside answer than that.

They should build a statue of him in front of Fenway along with Pedro.
Who was a hit away from another WS apprearance last year?
The sox had a ton of injuries last year man and still almost pulled it off.
If you looked at the stats, the Red Sox actually hit better without Manny!

You're really stretching man...
By your logic we would have to probably take away every yankee championship in the last 30 years...

Sure, i guess you missed all the flack the Yanks have taken since the Mitchell report? House That Roids built! etc etc. Sox fans have been dishing it out, prepare to take it. Mitchell report was a joke though, the guy was ON the Sox payroll and no current Sox were named on it, while about 20 Yankees were!

And how many big home run hitters were on the 98 Yanks? And 30 years? If you read into a lot of it, most of steroid breadcrumbs lead back to that A's team with Canseco and Big Mac. Turns out Canseco was telling the truth all along.

Now, would you still be suprised if Ortiz failed a drug test? I say, let's hear who the other 103 players are from 2003.

I would love a zero tolerance policy, but that will never happen. I think the current policy is actually pretty good and I was surprised when it passed. I think the idiots from the players union realize what a black eye it is for the sport and let Selig have the 3 strikes=lifetime ban policy for that reason. But there haven't been any Rays players named yet, so real teams don't need steroids...*knock on wood*

Let's not forget Clemens and the pitching staff. Power hitters aren't the only ones that benefit from steroids.

Clemens wasn't on the 98 Yanks. It's pretty clear he had a Roids Rage fit in game 1 of the 99 series when he threw part of the bat at Piazza.

And how many times has Arod tested for Roids by the leaue? ZERO. The 03 test was SUPPOSED to be kept private.

And still i see denial on your part as most every Sox fan has been about roids, thinking your team has been clean. I know Sox fans are liking this Manny thing because he's not on your team, well Clemens wasn't on the Yankees when his roid soap opera went on but still, the Yanks took all the flack for that. It's interesting to see how Sox fans are deflecting the roids issue with Manny over to the Dodgers.

Again, the Mitchell report was a joke, and i'd LOVE to see the rest of the 03 test. I'm sure you'd see some more of your 04 idiots on the list.

HOWEVER. Let's agree on this. Baseball didn't care for years, the players are still getting their millions, and as long as a player performs then fans forgive. Arod, Giambi, Sheffield, Tejada....they'll hit homers this year and fans will cheer. If baseball
knew that knew that nodoby would be caught they'd look the other way. They DID look the other way for years. It goes back to the 94 strike. The sport needed people to come back to the stadiums and home runs brought them back, and they didn't care.

And really fuck it, there's soo many players on roids it's almost a level playing field anyway.

There is no Proof Manny did Roids before his Contract with the Dodgers...To be even more to the point, there's no proof he even did 'Roids at all last year.

Ok let's follow your logic. There's NO proof Arod ever did roids. And there's NO proof that ANY players on the Mitchell report did roids either. Did you read what the report was formulated from? It was a list of names from 2 trainers that, oh suprise, happened to work in New York. There was no proof, just names given to Mitchell.

So going by your logic, there's NO flat out proof that any Yankee, besides Giambi, did roids.
