Damn, I didn't realize he was in Fight.. I had to hit Wiki... He actually said he left because he got "bored" with their music.
Crazy huh ! He was like a mini dimebag then became a mini 80s guy lol

One of my favorite songs me and my drummer play is Priest Grinder.
So much fun to play and we do it little heavier.

Priest is my favorite metal band……up to Turbo..lol. Halford just crushes Dickinson for me in his versatility of tone and range and levels of aggression. Bruce is pretty much one sound, just quieter vs. louder but still a fucking great sound. Even though Halford is known for his upper range he gets one of the best middle range rough voices I’ve ever heard in rock. One of my favorite songs from his solo period is Silent Screams.

This post got me on a Fight kick so hard lol thanks fr !

Not much love for Painkiller in this thread. Hmmm. Though at the time there were heavier things out there, I still think the title track is the most ”metal” track I’ve heard to this day because it’s SO over the top in so many different ways and borderline comical/self parodic. Half the songs on that CD are about boiling, melting, pounding Metal in various ways lol

Dio > Halford , IMHO. But I have huge respect for both.

Ive seen them on 6 different tours, starting with British Steel, they always delivered live, but Screaming for Vengeance was like a battalion of tanks running over you! Defenders of the Faith was also very very good. British Steel was great but they did not yet have the sheer visual impact of what must have been at least 40 (?) double headed Marshall stacks on multiple vertical levels and the huge stage they had on SFV and the next several after that. (even though you knew they were not all being used) The live show was at another level starting with SFV. We saw them twice on that tour.
I never really got the Priest vs Maiden comparisons, they are very different musically. I love them both. Halford and Dickinson really could not be more different..
Most of them where empty. I ended up with several of the heads. Sold them maybe 1988.

Probably my favorite Halford memory is the time he tried to seduce my drummer.

No contest, for me anyway. There's a lot to choose from, but I thought his Halford band days were his absolute best live vocals ever. Top of his game. They've been my favorite band of all time since my introduction when Unleashed In The East came out. Then, I got British Steel, Screaming for Vengeance came out, then I went back and bought everything back to Rocka Rolla. He's the greatest, and in his own league. Funny enough, his older, more tired vocals on Firepower, at his age, still beats the shit out of Dokken and Bon Jovi TODAY.

True Priest fans can appreciate this one.

I see your Beyond the Realms, and I raise you the Halford Live Insurrection version of Stained Class!
So friggin' heavy and vocally on point!! ?

Priest is one of my favourite bands; my 70's/80's hard rock/metal coverband actually had a gig last night where we played 5 Priest songs consecutively in the 2nd set (before a block of 5 Maiden songs with UFO's "Doctor Doctor" and Mercyful Fate's "Evil" in between) :
Hellion/Electric Eye
Heading Out to the Highway
Green Manalishi
Breaking the Law
Hell Bent for Leather

I've played in a dedicated Priest-tribute as well, where we've played the whole Screaming For Vengeance album integral back in 2012 (30th anniversary). Was funny to see why certain tracks didn't achieve the same hit-status as others. During "Pain and Pleasure" and "Fever" half the audience went to fetch beer. ?

Devil's Child is one of my favourite tracks, especially the Live Vengeance version:

Oh no doubt, I knew they were not all being used, but back then the visual impact was stunning. They did it JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN!
