Hard Rock/Metal Gibson players.. Which Pickups for LP?

I just ordered a Motor City Warcry, which he doesn't even offer anymore.(but is making for me out of kindness). We tested quite a few different pickups this past weekend, and that was the one I liked most and can't get out of my head. was just raw'er and ballsier than some of the others we tried.
The Solution seemed like a souped up 498T with more output. slightly too trebly and bright to me.
Afwayu...just wasnt for me.
Cantrell was a little too....can't remember...muddy? dark? dunno.
I just tried those others in the video above, only one i liked a bit was the Nailbomb. tight and crunchy but a little bit not enough oomph for what I want. I want to fatten up an anemic paul...but keep it tight.
and regarding the video above...it was just to show off the pickup differences. not dialing in for tone.

My issue is that the only feel I can get for these pups is via websites and forums, such as this one. Unfortunately I haven't had a lot of time with my LP yet. It definantly plays great, the pickups left a little to be desired. I just haven't had a chance to sit down with her and figure exactly what I feel the guitar is lacking tonally. She was a little bright/brittle up top, I do remember that. I just love that particular rip of a high output pup. After speaking with Tim, he said that I shouldn't worry about the Aftermath being too much with a high gain amp because it was designed for it.

I have a set of Lollar Imperial Highwinds in mine. I like them alot. I use high gain (Mark V and Dual Rectifier) and I suppose my style falls somewhere between thrash and sludge metal, which a bunch of hard rock thrown in between. I find using lower output pickups into a high gain amp gives a bit more definition (Highwinds still fall into the 'vintage PAF' level of output).

Further, being Lollars they sound extremely good when I back the gain off or switch to a clean tone.

My other two LPs have P90s and EMGs... probably not what you're looking for.

What model LP/stock pickups?

If they're PAFs (Burstbuckers, '57s, etc), try rolling the tone pot off slightly. PAFs have a natural scoop to the tone that gives a warm response... it's one of the reasons they're so highly valued. They can also tend to sound a little bright... hence why guitars come with a tone knob. Rolling the tone off to 7 or 8 can be what's needed to take the edge off your tone and warm it up to where you're happy with it.

If it's ceramics (500T)... same deal, although you may need to re-EQ your amp for them. Ceramics typically are great if you want to drive an amp for biting crunch with a lot of clarity or if you want to maintain a lot of clarity with high gain (although the wind can greatly affect the final results).

Its an 04 standard w/Burstbucker Pros. I don't hate them, and I haven't had a chance to run the guitar through my rig seeing as I'm paying off a layaway for it. GAS w/bad financial timing

Just knowing how warm and versatile my CU22 is, I kinda want to make this mean ass looking LP sound the part. I won't loose any sleep over amazing pushed/distorted tones with just average cleans.

+1 on the BKP's.

I have Warpigs in a couple of my Les Paul Customs and a Painkiller in another one. I used to have a Nailbomb and dug it, too.

This is exactly the same for me too. I have a pair of War Pigs in one LPC and a pair of Painkillers in another. Never tried the nailbombs though :dunno:

I think you should go BKPups :D

If you want something from a smaller company then checkout Wolfetone Pickups. I have a Fenris in my Les Paul and it rips. He gets very good reviews from people who have tried his stuff and he's a great to deal with.

I've chosen 3 pick ups from bare knuckle, its between the painkillers, nailbombs and aftermaths. After finally finding some clean recordings of the AMs, they are leading buy a hair.
