After hearing the stock clip that you posted I think that you will absolutely love what the Jose Master does for your amp. It will give the amp just the extra kick that you need without really screwing with the core tone and the core tone you have is great IMHO. It will also hack off a ton of volume which will also benifit you and if you do the push pull version where its either in or out of the circuit Im pretty sure you will be extremely happy.

Yo Ralph!
Doesn't that amp rock or what!? I love it to pieces... imperfections and all.
I'm hoping it kicks all kinds of ass and I'm planning to experiment with the push-pull configuration. I ordered all the parts including 2 pots. One regular one for the quick and dirty and the push-pull for when I nail down the values I want. Hopefully, I'll have the stuff this week and I can do a little fiddling over the long weekend.

Yeah I can't wat. I remember when I got it from Adam... He told me it was a Super Lead modded to a Super Bass, modded back to a Super Lead. So I did some research on what a '71 is supposed to look like and this thing had some parts that were typical in a '71, but then had some values that were typically seen in a '68. So I cleaned up the modded/unmodded portion a bit and returned it to stock '68. It sounded tremendous when I got it from Adam, and this just made me feel like it's the way it should be. So yeah... I'm pretty damn psyched to try this mod.

Anyone? Steve (SAH5150), Dave?
I had that master in both of my Jose Arredondo modded Marshalls and it sounds great. The placement of the master and the diode clipping give a great, higher gain tone.... Give it a try, it sounds cool... It'll be in my amp - footswitchable in and out of the circuit...

Steve

Oh man! I'm getting really psyched to try it out! LOL! :D
How hard is it to switch it out? Can I use a 1 Meg push-pull? or something?
Here is how I switch it. It is called the "Zen Master" on my layout. You can ignore the relays on the board and just concentrate on the physical switch.

Thanks Steve!
That's the diode behind the relay, correct?
how does it sound steve?

Stan!

If you are referring to the Jose Master, it used to sound great in my old Jose Arredondo modded Marshalls. If you are referring to my amp, it sounds great on paper.

I literally just finished the layout design and can now start building... shouldn't be more than a month or two from now that I'll have a prototype for tweaking...

Steve

If you pull that off with no noise issues,? I might need to hire ya.

Hey man - what can I do? I've got a basic layout design... I've gotta just build it and see what I need to do to make it right. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears... If I have to shield more, I will...

Steve

no Im serious. Whenever I try to add extra features I end up dumping them in favor of quieter signal paths. If you can pull it off, I need your help down the road. Ive done all the sheilding a man can do. Works great but once you get somany things going on , you end up with less options on where things are located so, end the end, the byproduct is little annoying noises. Everything about your layout looks killer. Just a lot of wires. I cant wait to hear it. Tell me about that input cap and res combo. I dont think Ive seen that one.

I can tell you right now Steve I'm looking forward to this.
I'm basically wanting to do a Modded Marshall and I thinking this is up my ally.

Oh, OK... I understand now - I know what you're saying, there are A LOT of wires... But I've got a vision for this thing and I want to see it through. That is part of the reason I went through the trouble of building a full scale layout diagram in the first place. To understand what I'm dealing with and where everything has to go. I believe I can do this - it may take a lot of time and effort to do so, but I don't think anything cools gets done without that kind of effort...

Check out my response on that on the previous page. I answered you when you originally asked...

Sounds good, man! I'll keep everyone here updated with my progress. I'm going to do a big update to my build thread tonight with images of the layout in different layers, so people can see where every wire is routed. I'm also going to put up the updated schematics as well. I'm about ready to pick up my build where I left off after I decided to do a custom board and full scale layout diagrams...

BTW - I've re-worked the lead dress on the board to be accurate to how it will actually be wired. You can see which wires go under the board and they no longer go directly over turrets, etc... I'll post that in my build thread tonight...
