Ibanez JEM77WDP Steve Vai Guitar
When Steve Vai teamed up with Ibanez in 1987, little did he realize what a lasting impact his signature model guitar would have. Today, the JEM is an iconic instrument immediately identified with the legendary guitarist. As part of the Ibanez Premium series, the JEM77WDP is a high quality instrument created for the working pro. This latest version of the JEM, with its unique look, brings a new taste to the lineup.

The JEM77WDP is crafted with a Rosewood top/Mahogany body along with a distinctive wooden pickguard, matching headstock, and wooden control knobs. Its elegant Tree of Life inlay prominently stretches along the contrasting Rosewood fretboard. The Wizard neck includes Jumbo frets finished with the Premium Fret Edge Treatment for a smooth, comfortable performance. The Edge Zero II tremolo bridge features a lower profile design for comfort and a stud lock function for superior tuning stability.

Electronics include two DiMarzio Dark Matter 2 humbucker pickups (one at the neck, one in the bridge) with an enchanting custom pickup grill and a DiMarzio Dark Matter 2 single coil pickup in the middle position for a wide array of rock tones. A hard shell case is included.

Not new just different.

I looked at the JEM jr last winter, it was a huge disappointment.

- I love JEMs
- That is a train wreck.
- Why are all the new JEMs Premiums?

I like it....heh. I wish the top used a more figured wood, but I dig it either way.

Is that for real? That seems like the anti-Jem in a lot of ways. Seems fine, but man I don't like that type of burl wood (looks like the guitar has some kind of venereal disease.

Love me some early Jems. The pickup covers on this one are ridiculous.

I like the 20th Anniversary JEM but would never pay retail.

Love Ibanez, love Jems....that guitar however is a clusterfuck.

1: ugly as sin

2: It's a fucking Premium.

I'll pass.

those inlays would make it unplayable for me
i always thought the handle was retarded and too vai-esq for anyone but him to own
the OG rg550's with the wizard necks are unfuckwithable
i think they are selling a premium semi reissue at 1k
greed drives capitalism and inevitably every company needs to show a profit hence MORE
but
if ain't broken don't fucking fix it
a lesson very few companies have learned

People still play those? Buy them?
I've never seen one on a stage with the exception of Vai himself.
Not a stadium, theater, club, corner bar or backyard party.
