Hated the Riot and Shiba, loved Koko

I purchased all 3 Suhr Pedals just a couple of days ago. Riot, Shiba and Koko

I purchased the Riot to have as a secondary rig with a couple of pedals into a Fender combo. I will stay with my Radial Hot British. The Riot seemed so fake, it was as if something was wrong with the pedal (I bought it new) it sounded awful. I can't believe how Mark Day got it to sound like that... I was A/B it with the Radial and it wasn't even in the same league. Yeah some people are going to say it was user error and bla bla, but I just did not like what I heard at all, tried every possible setting for like an hour. Luckily for me someone wants to buy me the pedal. Ohh I also tried it in the clean channel of a Diezel Einstein, did not like it at all.

The Shiba is a regular overdrive and I felt it was not worth the huge price tag, I don't know why this pedals got all hyped up, I just hated the Shiba as well, it sounded so thin and sterile.

On the other hand, the Koko boost is so addictive its sick. I can't believe the same company made all 3 pedals. I usually don't like clean boosts, don't use them, etc. But man this thing is insane!!!

Well thats all folks, just wanted to share with you...The Koko is on my board and the other 2 are going for sale as soon as possible.

Been wanting to try one of those. I have a hot british radial too, that thing is TIGHT :D It sounds great with some stuff, but not everything

I just got done trying the Riot. I think it sounds ok, but it does have some loose bottom end with no way to really tweak it out. I think the price is awefully steep for what you get. Plus, it really doesn't have that over the top gain i was looking for.

I love the Koko boost as well, the Tonefreak Severe is a better gain pedal than the Riot IMHO, have not tried the Lovepedal Redhead but heard it is pretty good as well.

The KOKO boost is in a league of its own IMHO

I agree the Koko is something else, it was the pedal I had less faith on. As soon as I played literally 20 seconds with it I fell in love.

Its weird how the amp sounds lacking once its not on, have you noticed that? Its addictive...

I just received the Koko boost in the mail yesterday. Haven't given it all that much time yet but, sounds amazing so far

I too had to give it a go because of Mark's clips.

i didnt really like the riot either...except for one clip on youtube. got to a/b it with a shiba and i picked the shiba.

i do run it at 18V as a cleanish/low gain boost and love it
but i still want to add a koko to the collection

Not sure I'd open with that in the classifieds. LOL

  I guess you didn't care for the riot?.. :D

I trust you guys opinion more than the gear page guys. Over there they say how great the riot is and theres a bunch of theads on the riot, nobody ever mentions the lows and most of them think it has plenty of gain, i dont think they play any heavy or fast stuff over there.

We should call it the wuss page. I mean, guitars and amps are about fucking Rock N Roll right? About beat up Marshall 4x12's and LP's with dings all over and paint missing. When did these douchebags decide Robin Ford and a Dumble were the benchmark? It's like they'd rather watch a live show while sipping wine at a table and checking their stocks from a Blackberry while listening to barely audible blues or fusion instead of chugging beer at a rock show where actual girls go, and the cops show up because it's too loud.

Wow, harsh. I actually like the Riot. I hear what y'all are saying about the lower frequencies, but I track that more as "warmth" than looseness. Then again, I'm not playing any uber-bruutz/uber-speed/uber-metal, either. "High gain," for me, is rather like Warren Haynes' tones on Dose.  For that, the Riot's pretty good, imo. For thrash, yeah, prolly not so much.

I want a Koko boost. I had a chance to pick one up here locally off craigslist for $200 and didn't have the cash at the moment.

Yes, and that's one of the reasons I don't like boost pedals. However, I got the damn Koko and it may be like some super-addictive narcotic in that I have to have it on in front of most of my amps now. Without it, the amps seem all of a sudden harder to play with a lack of sustain, at least at lower volumes.

YES, that is exactly how I feel as well. I thought my amps were great before the Koko, but now when the boost is off it feels lacking, and harder to play as well... What a great little pedal. Rayneman you still playing the PT-100. That must be one heck of a combo!

Sounds pretty sweet to me. But I understand, I bought one as well and haven't got it to jive with a SLO. Certain pedals, certain amps, certain taste just don't jive. :)

Koko is the coolest pedal I've used

I didn't get the Riot to jive with anything. Sold my yesterday. I wouldn't mind trying the Koko boost though.

I hear ya. Been through a bunch of OD pedals. You just never know what is going to work for the tone you want. I picked up a Delta Labs Metal Distortion OD pedal some time back. It was only $30 bucks so I wasn't too worried if I didn't like it. Run by itself into a clean amp it sounds like what it is: a crappy, buzzy, can of bees $30 high gain pedal. But run it into an overdriven channel with the pedal gain off and the volume and tone (basically a mid boost/cut), dialed to taste and it is a rockin solo boost pedal that cuts very well.
