Have an SM57, AKG P200 to mic my cab. Placement suggestions?

My problem is that the recordings of this cab always come out too compressed, no matter how I set the gain level. It currently has a pair of Guytron Bigtone 55's, which are British voiced (sort of the genius bastard child between a V30, G12H30 and Greenback). Amp is the Guytron GT100, which has a low-mid thing going on no matter how you set it. I'm trying to get something more transparent and natural in my digital recordings, no quite as muffled and sterile.

Ideas?

You say your amp has too much low mids, maybe dial that out, use an eq pedal if you have to.
What goes in to the mic is what comes out.

I use just a 57 for electric guitars and I like the results everytime.
Point it straight at the center dust cap, a few inches away from the grill cloth. Then tilt it sideways so the mic is pointing roughly at the middle of the cone on about a 30 degree angle.
Sometimes, when being really picky, I use Sure in-ear headphones, while listening/playing open chords, move the mic side to side slightly to really find the sweet spot where it sounds natural with the the least phasing going on.

Thanks man, I'll give that a shot!

As well, about having to much low mids...instead of trying to remove it, just go with it and instead back off the bass control and turn up the mid, treble and presence.
