Speaker mixes in a 412: My thoughts and some advice wanted.

Agree with several here.

Running two cabs with different speakers sounds much better to my ears. Back when I played live if I had the chance to run my two Marshall 4x12's I ran one with '75's and one with GB's and it sounded incredible.

That said the single best cab I have owned or heard much less, was a Mojave 4x12 with GB's on top and 30th Anni's on the bottom. Massive sounding. Any amp put through it sounded great. At the time I had several 4x12's, a couple of Peavey 5150 cabs, Splawn cab and my Marshalls (which I loved) and not one could hang with that Mojave. The closest was my old beater Marshall which I still have.

I take it most of you know every individual speaker and every individual cab sounds different.

If you take a dozen Vintage 30 all made on the same day every one is going to sound slightly different.
Same with cabs. No two sound the same. Even if made identical.

Yeah, and then it all sound slightly different depending on which amp, guitar, room, etc., etc., etc.. So what's your point?

Cabs are so weird . I have 5 cabs atm . 3 all have v30s and none sound close to each other .

I'm on board with the two separate 4x12 argument- in fact that's what I'm building now. One preamp, two power amps and two cabs. In my case with the V30 cab & the T75 cab (thanks Jim!) this allows me to balance the volume since the V30s are notably louder. When I do this, it sounds GLORIOUS. It's the most full, deep & amazing tone I've had to date in the band mix. Here's an isolated example I recently put together.

Dude those T75s make that amp sound vicious!

I think I found something that's in the ballpark of what I have in mind. At least the description and two clips I found are intriguing enough for me to try for fun and give them a shot.

Mojotone Greyhound speakers. I'll probably start off with a pair and stick them in a 212 to see how they sound. If I like them I'll get another two and move them all over to my 412. I don't know anything about Mojotone speakers. Sound wise they seem like they'll do the trick, but I don't know how well they're made or if they'll fart out at band volumes. Anyone have experience with the Greyhounds or Mojotone speakers in general?

Here are the 2 clips I found, one being by Mojotone themselves.

I have a creamback and v30 mix in my Bogner cab. A v30 by itself, I don’t like it at all, but throw in a cream or greenback and watch out! You now have the key to bad assery!

In my KSR 4x12 I have it setup stereo with the left hand side as creamback 75's and the other side redbacks. I had quite a few people tell me this was a mistake but I basically run it like 2 2x12's. I use either the left or right hand side 60% of the time then all 4 on other occasions.

I got a KSR 2x12HW on order with just V30s and I considered doing a mix but I ended up just going with 2 v30's. So this basically covers my favorite speakers.

After I get moved I want to add a Marshall cab with k100 or the T75 but until I get more space I'm full with only 2 cabs
