Have Sweetwater reps been messaging you on FB trying to get you to use their used site?

Fuck Sweetwater for this first off. I liked them when buying a couple straps, and them harassing me via email or phone is one thing, but seeing me listing some of my nicer gear on FB Marketplace and one of them contacting me from his personal page to try and get me to list them on Sweetwater's used site is going too far.

The don't bother me much, maybe 1-2 cold calls a year that I ignore.

Though I do find it a bit annoying when they call, email, and text several times to make sure that $3 bag of picks arrived safely.

I literally just asked my rep to only contact me by email and no other contact since then...

Don't know ,..... but I know Ben Robinson left the company .... they gave me the new guy and he called my work number asking for me .....

I wasn't to thrilled about that ....

My rep's been good so far, he only contacts me if I reach out to him via email or phone first

No, but I rarely sell anything and only twice on FB (years ago). I’m not sure what the total is, but I’ve spent well north of $50K at Sweetwater over the last decade. My sales rep is active when he knows I’m in the market, but otherwise lays back. On that topic, I asked him to look out for a perfect Gibson LP Custom/R/whatever series in Lemon Burst. No calls… 🤷

How did they get your work number?
I really have no idea ....... other than maybe I listed it as a contact number when I had stuff shipped there ..... but I'm pretty sure I always listed my cell as the contact no matter where it was being shipped

I had one call me at work one time. I had a lot of things shipped to me there, and listed the phone number on the ship-to address, (like a dummy)...

Needless to say, it didn't end well. I went on a profanity-laced tirade as I was busy at the time and flew off the handle. NOBODY from Sweetwater called me again.

I spent thousands with them until about 10 years ago. I stopped buying from them after an expensive LP showed up with so many flaws and issues Ronny Milsap could see them. And looking at their 55-point inspection card all checked off burned my ass. Getting a factory-sealed guitar with flaws is one thing, but pencil-whipping an inspection sheet when you know damn well they didn't inspect it at all is another. I told them to piss off, and that was the end of buying from them. The discounts were getting smaller anyway, and the pinhead I had to deal with was annoying AF. They wouldn't even give me somebody different when I asked. Fuck Sweetwater, and their Bit 'O Honeys.

Sweetwater has been good to me and my rep doesn't bother me unless I ask. Currently in the middle of a negotiation I sent via email and he happens to be out this week. Guy helping out while he is gone has been cool too. No issues from me.

Tried out their Gear Exchange about a month ago to sell some things that sat locally for months and both sold within a week. Have about a $500 credit there at the moment.

You guys need to shut your pie holes. Walk into Guitar Center for 2 minutes and deal with that shitshow. Guitar Center is Rikers Island, heading to the showers. Sweewater is the Playboy Mansion.

All joking aside, I've been up there a few times. If you want to try something out, they "order" it from the warehouse and deliver it to the showroom. I got to try the Gain Baby and BluGuitar with a rep and they unwrapped it, plugged it in, etc. When I was done and didnt buy, was all good. They said let us know if you want to try anything else!

Ive had positive experiences with sweetwater. My engineer doesnt really call me that often, which is interesting because everytime he does I impulse buy an amp, guitar or studio gear lol

SW gear exchange is dead, it's like a bermuda triangle gear no-sell zone.

Plus I reached out about a high-$$ item I've been watching for almost a year and my "sales engineer" returned a form email with a 5% discount and not even a cursory "thanks for your interest" note.

Not impressed.

I don't like buying guitars from SW. They can shove their 55 point inspection. I want a new guitar in the factory sealed box, and that's what I get from my rep at MF. Disappointed in my last guitar purchase from SW, under the new owners/management. Never again.

Man, you guys have bad reps

My Sweetwater guy gives me discounts on everything

He never calls me

And the GearExchange is incredible. Cheaper insurance, cheaper freight, and shit moves because people with money go there.

Maybe you just need a new rep.

Jozy Franco is the man. Tell him I sent you and he’ll treat you the same.
