Have you ever bought a piece of gear (or at least been noticeably influenced to) due to its name? Be honest. Now I realize the gear had to be at least decent or you wouldn't lay money down for it, but something has to get your attention.

Or, have you decided not to even look into a piece of gear because it had a completely stupid (or offensive/NSFW) name?

Come on, guys, don't be shy. I know this is totally subjective and a personal decision, so no judging from me. I just thought it would be fun to list them all here. I'll go first:

Gear I've looked into just because of the cool name (and bought most of them):

Pedal - The Improbability Drive by Lumpy
Pedal - Philosopher's Tone by Pigtronix
Pedal - Dark Matter by TC Electronics
Amp - Event Horizon by Painting With Electrons

Gear with stupid/moronic names I never bothered to check out:

Pedal - Fudgepacker Fuzz (there's just no good way to spin that name)
Pedal - EHX Holy Stain
Pedal - Super Hard On by Zvex
Pedal - MOJOmojo by TC Electronics (I kinda hate the term mojo at this point)
Amp - Randall Satan (come on, are they trolling for rebellious teenagers?)
Guitar - Wangcaster (I saw the picture and wish I hadn't)

And pretty much every EMMA pedal out there :D

I wanted the fucking fucker amp pretty badly. Yes, it makes tons of weird tones from a lot of weird tubes, but I am kinda into that. The stupid name is just a bonus.

I still want a thermonuclear drive pedal too. Great name, way cool enclosure. The bit crusher is cool to me too.

Same with the Hennings cherry bomb and bottle rocket. Not only do they sound great, these amps are beautifully designed...elegant.

The future breed machine amp had me by the balls the moment I saw the prototype. Still the best thing I have ever bought myself.

Yeah, I shake my head at some of the names of stuff. And I am a sucker for something that looks super cool and sexy (James peters stuff, KSR/Rhodes, Hennings, etc). But I can honestly say that if the DAR FBM was called the gay blumpkin, I still would have bought it.

Waiting for the rusty trombone talk box to be designed. But I won't buy anything called the Cleveland steamer or the Cincinnati bow tie.

I haven't bought anything just because of the name, but it has made me curious enough to try out gear just to sort out what it does.

How about the Dirty Sanchez pedal? Brown sound at its finest.....

I've never bought anything just because of the name, but I will say that I get turned off by some names... not enough that I wouldn't still buy something if I loved it, but it does move it further off my radar. Friedman amps come to mind...

Wilson effects - stoned grasshopper.

Bought an original run and picked it up at the builders house. Loved the concept and name. In the end it was a great pedal but picked up a lot of radio interference on the fuzz side so I moved it on. Might well have been from the dc brick I was using at the time. I'd love to try one again but he changed the casing finish and it is considerably less cool looking...

I suppose so...names like Jackson, Gibson, Fender, Charvel, Bogner, Marshall, VHT, Splawn, Mesa/Boogie, Duncan, DiMarzio, Floyd Rose etc lol

I wonder how many bought Duncan Screamin Demon thinking it was brutally hot pickup ;)

Got a Dimebucker when they came out. Probably would never thought about getting one if not for Dime association.
