What exactly is weird about him? He served a couple decades in the guard, rose to the rank of major, saw combat in Iraq, and received two bronze stars.
What's weird is that Dan is so obsessed with making sure everyone knows he's a veteran, yet takes every chance he can get to bash another veteran. Doesn't make a lick of sense. It's all because he hates Trump.

Just so everyone knows, because I didn't until I checked, he got his bronze stars NOT for bravery but for "meritorious achievement". I have no idea what qualifies for meritorious achievement. Shined shoes, a clean latrine and an ability to say "yes sir"?
What I don't like about him is (and I'm gonna copy and paste since it's better written than I could come up with) this:
