Doug is just a flat out KILLER player, but the amp sounds pretty damm awesome if you ask me. I just wonder what the used prices will be once the TGP crowd starts selling them?

Come on guys, sell your Helios for the latest Dumble clone or 5 watt lunchbox.

I'm only going by the clips that are out there with this opinion... but to me the Helios sounds more like a real plexi in its tone and dynamics and it has that added Bogner juiciness, while the Friedman has more crisp saturation (still, great dynamics on the BE).

But what the hell do I know until I play one.

I notice the matching cab for it is GB's on top and V30's on the bottom. Seems like ol' Friedman's success hasn't gone unnoticed by Reinhold.

Despite the delays...still want....bad.

:hys: :hys: :hys:

Success because some put some speakers in a 4x12 a certain way???

Like one of my Best Friends had 2 Greenbacks on top and 2 V30's on the bottom ( no X ) in one of the first VHT cabs ever made by Steve Fryette.

This was about 12-14 years ago and I played it constantly at this house for years....

The cab was a slant cab that had the REALLY old style VHT log which looked like a giant office door name plate..

Sure, but this whole thing reeks of Friedman's browneye.

Well I admire anyone for jumping into the market place at the right time to ride a wave...

It's what's kind of trendy right now. A return to the simplicity of the good ol' days...

I did play a Friedman 4x12 cab with that configuration at GC and loved it... was close to buying it but couldn't understand why YOU DONT GET WHEELS for that price???

I had a Friedman a while back B4 they really got trendy...

Wheels would be nice as would some nice Mercury Magnetics transformers and a custom built chassis... ect.

I mean to not bat an eye with wanting 35 hundred plus dollars.

It really was a badass cab and wheels is not a total deal breaker in and of itself but dang, I'm getting to old to not have wheels on a 4x12...

I'm actually going to GC right now to grab a bogner 4x12 all vintage 30...

Mesa was doing EVM 12L's on the bottom of their metal grill 4x12's with MC90's on top, that did that back in the 80's.

I agree, wheels should be included. Also odd that a footswitch isn't included with the Helios :(

* foot switchable functions: channel select and effects loop,
note: foot controller not included

IMO, it is partly Reinhold giving into the popular boutique plexi market (which has been saturated for years by many more builders than Friedman, hell even Mesa did their take on it) and part going back to his roots and making the amp that people have been wanting him to make for years. The GF was actually a step in that direction. That amp absolutely rips! I personally can't wait to try the Helios. Pretty sweet that the 100 watt head has the 30w mode too (a la JTM45)

Trendy or not, I'm pumped to play one. IMO you can't go wrong with a Bogner that finally has a little more bark and high mid cut but hopefully retains the Bogner trademark tone.
I know guys like Cantrell have gone over to Friedman, and that's awesome, but the BE doesn't nail that old school greasy, squonky Facelift tone...wonder if the Helios will get close?

a couple of casters would be wobbly... kind of exciting with the small box and helios coming out- big fan of 50 watt el34 mid to high gain marshall flavored amps,

I played the Helios at NAMM. It's sounded great but just it didn't feel right to me. Very stiff and unforgiving. Could have been the guitar but that day I much preferred the BE in comparison. That said I'm gonna try one again once they come out...

Blah, blah, blah...refined Plexi...blah, blah, blah...Bogner's answer to the Brown Eye...blah, blah, blah.

Who cares?!? It sounds BAD ASS.

All the wheels available suck. So I went he Orange route, none. I have found they all break over time and that's shitty. Oh and the note about a custom chassis and Mercury transformers. Well I don't like the sound of Mercurys and I do have a custom chassis, board, transformers, head boxes panels etc. Continue.

I don't like Mercs either, and I've bought enough of them to where I can get them a lot cheaper than the street price. They were all I used for a while. MarK A (Rip). used to buy them through my discount, and racked up my discount even higher. Don't get me wrong, they are good, but Merrens are my Fav, then Metro Spec Heyboers.

One of these day I will try that project trannys Joey developed with Classic Tone.
They have the power the run 5 pres and 4 kt88 if I remember correctly.

I would really love to get a Helios side by side with my Shiva 20th EL34. Im definitely considering it as my next amp. Love the Bogner/Plexi platform!

It would be great if someone could video a comparison of all the various transformers using that device that Suhr came up with for quick a/b testing. I've read that the difference in tone from one to the other is negligible at best. I had a heyboer put in a 2203 and it cleaned up the overdrive too much. The stock transformer was much better to me. I had a Roccaforte with Mercury transformers that sounded great.. very powerful. The Mercury's in my Wizards likewise sound fantastic and very powerful. It's like Sozo caps... you will find people/ builders on both sides I guess

Hate to tell you this, but that guy is going to make anything sound killer.

Just for fun I'd like to hear him through a Gorilla or Peavey Renown just to prove my point.
