Hey folks.

I work at a pawn shop, :D and today we got in all these guitars someone left behind. I'm wondering if someone would / could help me with the values for a couple of them, and tell me if this strat might be an american one?
Ok..
:bash:
First guitar: Gibson Firebird Celebrity : Black with White pickguard. 2 Mini Hums, made in 91..

Second Guitar: Gibson Firebird 76 No serial number. White, Ebony board, 3 mini Hums, Kahler Term made in the USA. 2 vol, 2 tone, like above,
Gold banjo tuners, etc,.

I looked online on the 2010 Vintage Guitar Magazine and it said the first guitar was worth between " Low = 1300 to High = 1600"
The 76 Firebird said " Low = 2750 and High 3400"

If you think these are un realistic, please let me know. I'd like to know what to ask and what to take..

I have a strat too that is Orange, and has 3 Seymour Duncans in an off white pickguard. Maple one piece neck, no skunk stripe, little headstock.
I didn't see anything that said made in the USA< but it says something  about syncronized trem contoured body? It's the 6 hole vintage type trem, and it's in a cool orange color. Off white pickguard. The serial number is on the bolt plate, and it starts with a V00###4 number. Does that mean anything? Rosewood board, medium frets I'd say or medium vintage maybe.. 21 frets..

One more.. Heritage: Made in Kalamazoo MI, Antique Violin like finish with pickguard that looks like wood also. I think the pickups are Duncans or ? Two hums, semi hollow like a gibson es335, but not a gibson of course. Two volumes, two hums, etc, etc,.. ? Any guess? I looked on ebay and saw that several had sold for around 1200 to 1700 but they were all different colors, etc,. This one has a Tom bridge and tail piece..

Anyway, I know there are some experts out there.. I'm needing prices before I put these up for sale. We are going to list them on Craigs list and I'll give you guys first shot at them if you're interested by letting you know where they are after I post them and after I get prices and get them priced of course!!!! Thanks so much..

The '76 Gibson with a Kahler on it is the one to cry about. That Kahler absolutely KILLED the value of that guitar. Seriously killed it. Is there one guy on the planet who wants a cool old vintage Firebird with a Kahler on it? Probably not. The vintage guide books are normally high. I'd take the low in that book and cut it in half because of the Kahler. Then do a dance if you sell it for close to that!

I'll answer your other question about the strat in your thread you dedicated to just that guitar.

Hey Chubtone, I actually looked up the Firebird with the kahler, and believe it or not, it is one of 200 and has a certificate. It was built that way from the factory with the kahler, and not added later as a lot of guitars were in the 80's, etc,.

I don't think most would want a firebird with a kahler, but I'm guessing a Gibson collector might be interested because of this one and the documentation, etc,. I'm going to ask the low price that is posted on the magazine and if we don't get any takers I can always lower the price.

The other one that has a TOM bridge is killer and love it..
Thanks so much..

I posted in your strat posting too but I would be real careful with all this stuff. I guess in this economy I just question stuff like this too much but I hate to see anyone getting burned and obviously a guy who collects this stuff and is selling it off would have an idea of it's value so why sell to a pawn shop?

http://www.tradetang.com/wholesale/gibs ... uitar.html - Lots of Chinese fakes being made daily and they come with certifications and all the hang tags and paperwork.

Is the 76 Firebird some sort of re-issue? The lack of serial number would be a concern I would think. If this is a stock '76 Firebird with a Kahler trem from the factory I'd be very interested in the guy who built it. Not because of the guitar, because of the time machine he has. :)

The serial number for a vintage reissue is on the correct location, and starting with a "V" is a good sign. :)
Duncans are likely after market and could bring the value down.

I posted a site on your other thread but here it is again. Of course there is a LOT more info but it's a simple placed to start.

^^^^^^^^^^

This guy rules!

To make it clearer, it's impossible for a guitar made in '76 to have a Kahler from the factory. That Kahler trem was just a twinkle in it's daddy's eye in 1976.

Thanks Guys. I took pics yesterday, but haven't had time to post them yet. Just the strat in another thread that Chubtone answered. I'll post the other pics today. Have so many and have to edit them first, but thanks for so much info. I told you wrong on the Kahler. It's the 91 that has the trem. The 76 is TOM I do believe I look at so many guitars everyday that I was confused, and I was also sick the days I wrote all this. Sorry about that.. Thanks so much guys.. I really appreciate it..
