hello all, I have 3 4x12 cabs, and a digitech Hardwire delay pedal, a tc electronic hall of fame reverb, 1 friedman ss100 head, and a carvin dcm1000 solid state amplifier. Will the carvin work for this application? I cannot get this to work. I run the line out of the head to the delay and the delay to the stereo inputs to the ss amp, then to the cabs and I get a static noise.
any assistance would be great.
thanks

I'm not familiar with the hardwire pedals. My guess is that they don't like line levels. Try taking the pedal out of the signal chain and see if you get any result that way.

I tried both pedals alone and nothing. I was at freedman's shop yesterday and he seemed pretty certain the hardwire would work without a mixer. any other ideas?

Try feeding the FX w/ the Friedman SS FX Loop SEND. FX Loop SEND--feeding your FX will vary depending on how you have the Master Volume set. If set REALLY low, not much signal will be driving the INPUT of the FX.

Check your cables

Make sure Power amp Standby switches are set to 'Go'. ;)

Let me get this straight..... Are you getting a dry signal to the center cab? I'm assuming the issue is only with the wet signal. Make sure the line level is up on the SS100 and you are using speaker and instrument cables in their proper places. Check the DCM1000. Are the channel inputs set up correctly? As I recall, those units have a limiter switch and a parallel input switch. Not sure either of those would have much affect.

Maybe the lineout is not working right. Didn't check that when I had it.

Good advice.

I miss Huge Racks for stuff like this. The early days of that site was all about rig building. Fun times.

yes, I am getting a dry signal in the center cab, I am using speaker cables from the cabs to the amps and instrument cables from the line out, to the delay to the power amplifier. should I use a speaker cable from the line out?

I think about all the rig configurations (Mono, Dual Mono (W/D, Slaved), Stereo, W/D/W that I've experimented with over the years, and the gear used to facilitate the variety sounds and textures w/ MIDI instant access and preprogrammed presets automated to one button press. I had NO idea that was even possible at the time, and it changed my perspective on guitar tones, and textures forever-- I remember like it was yesterday seeing the huge rack rigs at Lab Sound.

I finally went completely over the edge YEARS ago and having built a rig that allows me to use any configuration I might need, with all my favorite goodies-- I've NEVER looked back and regretted it.

Nowadays, the gear that's available sounds so good that HUGE rigs aren't necessary to get studio quality tones anymore. That said, I never did subscribe to downsizing, but for a stint in the 90's-- to fund a child custody battle. (We won ;) )... I still have the huge wall of gear but small stuff too, for when a Big sound, or such a variety of sounds isn't called for.
