Wow, Truetone is just full of swell ideas. Perhaps he should start his own amp company and show Steve how it's done..... :jerkit:
Nice work Steve

  He already did. He was hired and responsible for redesigning and making the Blades amps safe and easier to build.

Don't have anything to add that hasn't been said, so, I'll just throw in a  and a

For me, the grill is a little too see through.. I would personally prefer it thickened up but who cares, I am sure the amp will be the cat's ass!

I can agree on that even a black grill cloth with silver piping ,would be great .

Amp looks beige or cream to . could be my monitor but a hot white bronco would be cool

Right now it's black & white; curious if you can get white-white and black-black.
I think the current cosmetics are solid and the tones are what it's all about- which I know will be fantastic based on previous work!

You can get white head cab/white chassis and black head cab/black chassis if you want. The white head cab is really more of a beige than pure white.

I will say that the "see-thoroughness" you guys are mentioning in the pics is heavily amplified by the strong flash I used. In person, that mesh is not nearly as see through as it appears in these pics. I'll take some in more natural light and you'll see what I mean.

I Love the retro head shell with the combination of a modern face. I had mentioned in a past thread that I have been keeping an eye on your amps for a while now. Cannot wait for the clips on this one Steve  !

I see what trutone means about the "beefy cab" now too... compared to the cherry bomb, the frame of the surround cab is thicker. With a shorter cab than the 100, it makes it look like a brick aesthetically. Not a bad thing if you dig it but i think it might look a tad better with the same sort of headcab dimensions as the cherry bomb only shorter. Looking at it on a large screen made me realize why I thought something looks off about it. Like there is too much cab for the amp. Again though, that is an aesthetic choice and would not prevent me from buying an amp that sounds great.

Speaking of the amp itself, would a way to bring down the cost by a hundred bucks or so, be to just use different trannies? I mean the Mercury stuff is supposed to be fantastic but is it really that much better than other more affordable transformers out there? I love the classic tone transformer I put in my 2204 clone. I am not sure if they really "break in" but man, this thing is unbelievable now. I like it better than the Drake in my real 800 and it was half the price of most other transformers out there too. (and it's tight)I'm just trying to get you to that 1995$ price point which visually, will make it appear to be even more of a deal!!

I like the amp. The white with red trannie color scheme woks for me. White on white would get all, over me as well....I dig white, what can I say. Personally I love being able to see the guts through the mesh...hell light up the inside of the box for all I'd care. Either way, really nice looking amplifier! Can't wait to hear what it sounds like.

It's not really the transformers that are boosting the price. No way to get to $1995 with this amp. And even so, I love the MM transformers and I don't want any compromises in these amps. I'm at $2199 and I think it is a very competitive price for the quality.

Steve

He definitely didn't compromise on the CB. The build quality and attention to detail is off the charts. The amp is built like a Sherman Tank.

If you ever decide to switch to an alternate brand of iron, check-out Classic Tone... Joe knows tone!

Yeah those are the ones i mentioned and have in my amp. It's awesome. Not that I have a lot of experience with transformers but i know that i won't spend twice as much anymore after having heard the classictones with my own two ears.

I like the white with the red and the open screen.
Mixes sexy colors with an industrial no b.s. visual of the components.

I've never bought an amp because of what it looks like and never NOT bought an amp because of looks. Although there is the Peavy Wiggy ;>) Anyway, really enjoyed watching the design and build. I think it looks cool. Can't wait to hear it as well.

Glad you enjoyed the original thread. And you're right really - it's about what these boxes sound like. I can't wait for folks to hear this thing!
