How does the Bottlerocket differ from the Cherrybomb in tone. I know there is the single vs dual channel difference.

The Bottle Rocket is somewhat based on the ROD channel of the Cherry Bomb and can get all the tones of that channel, however, it is capable of tighter and more aggressive tones than the Cherry Bomb. It has more gain on tap and with the 2 Gain controls (each with 3-way Bright switches) it is much more versatile as well. Everything from Classic Rock to Modern Metal in a single channel and it still cleans up beautifully with the guitars volume no matter how aggressively you've set it.

I dig the Cherry Bomb; I love the Bottle Rocket.

Way more agrresive, and a silkier feel. JMHO.

Not to sidetrack the discussion, but what is it about the circuit of an amp that makes it clean-up well (or not) with the volume knob? I suspect there is a lot at play, but was curious where the bulk of that came from (pre-amp design, tone stack, etc.). Is that something that you specifically tried to address, or is it just a result of the overall design?

Cheers

There are a lot of things at work to have the amp respond that way, but most of it is in the preamp design. This was specifically on my mind when I was designing the circuits for my amps because I always relied on my volume knob for clean sounds when I played live and I wanted great guitar volume rolloff cleans to be a feature of my amps.

Anytime, man!

Steve, don't know if this has been asked but early on in the design you had a couple designs of this amp. One was more modern/aggressive and the other to my understanding was more vintage. What ended up in as the design and production amp. You got an amazing sounding amp here! Thanks

Yeah, I did try out two preamps, but the bottom line is the tonal differences between the two were so subtle in initial testing that it didn't make sense to offer both. After some more testing, I found that I could dial in either to sound like the other. I settled on one design, but I easily could have picked the other. They were that close.

Man...that sounds really good.

I am SO impressed with my Cherry Bomb......may need to pick one of these up :D

Never thought I would be interested in a single channel amp , but the Bottle Rocket has me thinking .
It's super versatile too and cleans up beautifully with the guitar volume! Available now $2199.00

Steve

Here are some clean and crunch sounds (also some chiggin'...)
