I personal use both depend what sound. 2+ more thicker. 3 more slimmer or cutting.

I use the 2+ for must of my needs, rarely go to 3 unless I want something brutal.

As for boosts, I generally play without, by lower output PUs and lower volumes I use my Lichtlaerm King in Yellow. My Fortin modded TS808 is too much for 2+ even with low gain on the amp. I might try the 2- as suggested in this thread.
