Here comes the SLO pedal

Most of these reviews are basically a paid commercial for the pedal as I would imagine all of these Youtube reviews that all came out on the same day collected a check from the manufacture of said product for their review so I ask would it be beneficial for them to give a negative review in any shape of form?

They may or may not like the pedal but your certainly not going to hear them say it is just alright , ok , or that it absolutely sucks!! even if they feel like it does or they probably would not be getting more gear sent to them from manufactures.

I wish there were more good transparent reviews but unless its from just a regular Joe who isn't concerned with getting recognition with his channel and doesn't have enough views for the manufactures to send him stuff then this is what you will always get..... a biased review.

The patented hand wound transformer that defines a good bit of that SLO character has been shrunken down to the size of a pea and fits inside this made for YouTube pedal ,and its able to sit on a pedal board. Who needs a real amp. I can put my hair up in a bun, charge my car and be to the gig in 4 hours and set up in 10 mins. And I'm using a SlO pedal man, what's all the fuss about, bunch a manly porno queen loving realist?

anybody ever own the GTO pedal back in the day soldano made?
I had a couple that I got direct from Mike: 2015-orange & 2017-purple...

Sold them for stupid $ after Mike retired. I also had one of the original ones from the first run in '01, which I had to use a ground lift with to eliminate the hum. Dumbass me...I should've kept all of them.

Glenn also doesn’t know a damn thing and thinks nothing matters in your signal chain in to the box anymore, sooooooo…..

True, he is one of the few though that will actually bash stuff like in this vid so i at least gotta give him credit for that

I don't know who Glenn is and I only see a black screen instead of a video so I've blocked his channel in my browser (like with many other channels because I don't want to see influencer bullshit) but I guess he is the "fat" gear influencer who rants on YouTube.

Isn't that basically his schtick?

He’s not fat. He’s a little boisterous but I don’t think his schtick is any different than anyone else’s, he’s just one of the few that will say something sucks.

I agree. I do watch some of the different YouTubers even if I have to skip over certain parts so I don't have to overexpose myself to their pleas for likes, comments, Patreon money or their online persona. But some still come in handy. I kinda more listen for elements of the pedal or amp (I don't care about guitars really) that I THINK might be something I like.
I ordered the SLO pedal yesterday. I have been on a real distortion pedal kick lately. I'm narrowing it down to two keepers.
I do record little video clips of stuff I get and post it on YouTube. However, I am NOT a YouTuber. You will never see my face, hear my voice asking for likes, comments or money. I just hook it up to my very simple/cheap setup and just mindlessly riff for a couple of minutes while trying some different settings. Nothing to gain for me, but hopefully a little bit more "regular joe" info for someone researching.
Plus, I make pretty much everything sound similar.

Sounds good. We look forward to your un biased review (y)

Glenn says shit sucks all the time

Deactivated BlockTube for a second. It's exactly the guy and how valuable and honest is this in reality when the 10 year old product in question isn't even sold anywhere because it hasn't been in production for quite a while and certainly wasn't at the time he was making the video?

Seems like low hanging fruit. He can do his thing and Music Man doesn't give a shit and nobody can even buy the damn thing in a store and I would think that at least some of those got a nut replaced before they are sold used 10 years later.

Edit: I actually remember now that one of my students had this model in a different color back then and the playability was fine btw.

Don't expect much from a shitty player, a $50 guitar from Walmart, one of the internets worst speaker(Sheffield 1290) and a worn out iRig Pre going into my phone.

I mean there is NO WAY he could possibly replace a $10 nut. I swear, this dude is like my nightmare of what I would want from a producer/engineer. I have dealt with this type of guy far too many times. He knows everything, everyone else is dumb, his way is the best, everyone else's is stupid.

But…. He’s made SO many of everyone’s favorite records…. You should totally listen to him.

glen more than a few times has bashed new gear to the point ive said i cant believe he is saying that, whether its authentic or not i really dont know? i dont have a disdain for youtubers like most here do questioning their agenda or motives every video, we all know what those are, i watch to be entertained. i could either put on the news when im stuck in nyc traffic or on my treadmill and hear about men getting pregnant or how someones feelings are hurt about something, or i could put on a youtuber discussing the same topics we do here and maybe learn something along the way, politics free. ill take the youtuber most days.

lol I get it man... but don't be a stooge for these guys. If it sucks, I hope you will say it sucks. So far nobody is...which to me shows how these channels operate. Better than a desk job I know, but still sucks to be a slave to the "other" man. The marketing man! No matter where or who we are, we've got an overlord!
Never have been and never will be. I can tell that is your perception, but it is purely that. Your perception.

I will keep doing exactly what I do as I have always done it. Most people see that my reviews are always my honest opinion, and I'm not afraid to point out things that I personally don't like about a product. I may not take a wet hot shit all over a product, as I don't really believe in that. Just because I don't like something doesn't mean that it sucks, which is how I see a lot of people's thought process here and all over the guitar community works. Different tools for different jobs and different musicians. Unless the product is a joke, or suffers from serious issues that prevents it from being usable, I'll try to find the good in it as well as the bad.

I always stipulate that companies can not alter or filter my review, nor can they see it before it's posted. I don't demo a piece of gear if the company sending it doesn't agree to these terms. People like to throw YouTube content creators in the guitar community into a bucket together as lying paid shills, selling their souls for a paycheck. Sure, there are some who may do this, but blanket statements and a cynical viewpoint are on you, not on the community.

Also, I don't need these companies to send me gear for my channel to continue on and keep growing. I'm able to get my hands on whatever I need by my own means. But I do like working with companies and building relationships within the industry in order to get access to new stuff before it comes out, or opportunities that may not have been there if I didn't work directly with them. But again, those opportunities will never come with a paycheck in exchange for my honesty. It's not how I roll and I value my integrity and the audience's trust in me more than a few dollars.
