Here's what Geoff Tate is up to these days

For goodness sake, somebody put some reverb on those vocals.

We were offered the opening slot for Tate/Queensryche last fall, but it was on a date we couldn't make. I still wish we could have played that one.

He can't sing, never could, has a gut, and an even bigger ego. I don't get the cult following on RT.

Taste aside, to say Geoff could never sing is a silly statement regardless of whether you liked his style.

Yeah, thats kinda crazy....

True, like him or not he could sing his ass off throughout the 80's and his work on Empire is amazing.

He is a complete tool.

Should change his name to Leatherman.

Without a doubt dude had pipes. Some say his wife is like Yoko/Sharon and just out to cash in. Playing a crowd like that certainly ain't making bank. I think a NY bus stop would have more people.

I don't know guys.. I feel he yelled a hell of a lot more and had horrible nasal tone. Let's ask Lugo what he thinks. He knows singing... to each their own. I guess people might argue that ripper owens can't sing either.

With all due respect to James, his opinion is just an opinion, nothing more , nothing less... I have serious doubts that he would agree with you.... Like Bob said, personal taste aside, Like him or not, Tate could sing...

He could not sing.. he could hold one high note. Anyway opinions are like assholes and everyone has one.. i also am just an asshole when it comes to this joke.

Christ Kapo, I actually logged in to ask you if you were high?!

Tate could sing like a MF back in the day.

Lugo's not the only singer on the board, "my" opinion is backed by my experience and knowledge as a vocalist who fronted a Maiden trib for years, among other bands. Tate, is harder to sing the Dickenson. A lot more control, pitch and volume technique goin on. Sorry. In my professional opinion ur off...

definitely not afraid to show off his gut... I'll give him that

When I watched the Hear 'N Aid dvd, where you could hear the singers without the music, I thought Geoff was one of the best, imo.

It's still early but this is the dumbest thing I've heard today.

Here he is doing his next Project....
Thimbles that Small insects can live in. He hopes to do an Adult size one some day.

That's why it is rig talk.. one person's affinity for lynch, is another for Billy Blade's amp! I find Tate to be a wailer and not much of anything else. I'm sure we've all said dumb things in everyone's eyes on here at one point.. if i am comparing him to other singers, I am thinking about dudes like Ray Gillen, Coverdale, Dio (in their primes of course). I suppose though you could also make a point that I probably don't like his tone which affects how i perceive his skills so point taken there.

I liked Tate back in the day. Fell off the radar for me after Empire.
Saw them plenty of times back in the 80's.
I just like poking fun at life.
Nobody takes half this stuff seriously......I hope. :scared:

I have just been listening to some old Queensryche to make sure I wasn't smoking crack... is it too late to back pedal? :dunno: Not a fan of his but ok, I see the argument. He could twist those highs. There happy now Rig talkers! I'm a broken man!

Quick, let's kick him while he's down! LOL :-)

Kapo, it takes a big man to admit a mistake publicly.

I'd have to disagree. He did, at one point have impeccable technique, and was one of the best voices in metal. He can no longer what he once did.
