It's pretty nice out near Leakey, Camp Wood, and Utopia. Great motorcycling country. It was reasonably priced a few years ago but nowt it's overpriced as hell for scrub land 2 or 3 hours from anything that ain't BF Egypt. If you make it towards Blanco 1888 is a pretty killer drive as well, old Texas riverfront farmsteads, just watch out for the deer. I quit gigging out that direction permanently last year after we hit two of them in a three month span along that stretch. Crabapple out near Enchanted Rock is also one of the cool spots as well. Huge pink granite rock formations sticking out the ground. Lotta pretty scenery in the hills.

A few years back I tried the new modelled "Tone master" Fender Twin Reverb Fender since you like Twin Reverbs. Compared to my valve Hot Rod Deville 212 and all the Twin Reverbs I ever remember playing it had no oomph. My Hot Rod Deville actually moves some air and feels like the bass notes punch you in the stomach. The Tonemaster was very two dimensional. I was ready to lay down some cash for it (who doesn't want a lighter twin reverb...) but I walked away from it after spending some time trying it. It had a lot of promise but I didn't think it delivered. It didn't sound like a valve amp to me.

As I told VB it's cooler than you'd imagine. I think he's missing out not making a point to go since he's so close. You just have to experience it to know what I'm talking about. Time to pack up the kids, a tent, some sleeping bags and go camp out on Arch's cactus ranch.
