I have a very vivid memory of getting an erector set that had some kind of little electric motor in it. Maybe it was Kinex? anyways, I built the whole thing and the fucking motor didn't work! I was pissed. I pulled out the family word processor and wrote the company a very angry letter to make myself feel better.

I never even bother when something goes awry anymore, I just throw it in the trash and never buy that brand/product again. I bought a Strymon Ola and it never left the house. "Made in USA" except for the actual power supply box which is made in China. Well, unless I jammed the cable into it with everything I have it would not keep turned on. It's in a box somewhere. I'll probably eventually chuck it because I like batteries since I only use one pedal at gigs. It was for a steel guitar board I put together during the pandemic so I had some Strymon, Meris, and other stuff on a board that needed power. Man what a disappointment because the Strymon pedals are killer.
The more gigs I got the fewer pedals I toted. Too much to go wrong, too much to carry. The kind of stuff I play doesn't really call for pedals. That's more of a blues rock or rock n roll thing. I velcro an OD to the top of the amp, it stays on all night. That's it.
LOL! That's the only OD I have been using for a little over a decade now. ES copy-Blue Note-Twin Reverb. It is a pretty damn good sounding unit.
