Why would they? It costs money to ship things, and I guarantee your shipping rate would be higher if you did it yourself w/insurance, etc., unless you can ship through work or something. The least you can do is pay the freight. A business is a business. Free rides sink the ship.
Why should you have to pay return shipping if they sent you a faulty item?

Because they are selling used items and if they neglect to say it does not work and you neglect to ask, technically you are at fault. Just because they are selling something used does not mean it has to be working.

Thats a pretty weak argument. I think most people would assume GC selling a used item online, its going to arrive in working condition.

I'm all for fellow forum members getting their asking price just to clarify, I'm disappointed by lowballers as much as anyone out there but there's a middle ground that the online community seemed to forget and has transformed the current state of the classifieds imo. :)

Yup.

The classifieds here used to be full of great deals, and if you got a great deal on something, you passed it along.

Most of the people who made that possible rarely post here, these days.

I know man, I remember that. I still try to pass on good deals to fellow forum members. The most irritating thing though is if you give someone a killer deal, and then they turn around and sell it for a lot more then what you gave it to them for!!

One of the worst examples of this was a few months ago Wayne Charvel's son, I believe his name is Michael, had for Sale a Cameron CCV plus matching cab (fine tuned by Mark, dated and signed) for 10,000. Now, that's a tad high, don't you think?
(Talking about both Michael and the price)

About a year and a half ago I contacted Michael Charvel because on their site it says looking for trades. They had a couple cool guitars for sale, and yes, the headstock is funny looking, but anyhow, the dude literally offered me around 20% of the value of the guitar in trade!!!

I research before I post something for sale here and try to come in a bit under what others have sold stuff for, however, I've noticed recently that people around here don't want to pay anywhere near what higher value items are worth based on recent sales I can point to. They'll only buy if something comes in considerably under other recent sales elsewhere. Lotsa tire kickers too that ask tons of questions and for additional pictures when I've already posted plenty. I've pulled anything I've had for sale. There are other things I'd like to try, but I don't need to sell anything and I'm not willing to give stuff away for stupid prices... I feel for anyone who needs to turn gear into cash right now...

Steve
Totally agree, Steve. Lots of tirekickers and lowballers up in here.

Man, there are some RADICAL low ballers here, I mean, just really burly, I don't even know how to respond sometimes. Ever get this one, (guitar is listed for a couple grand), "hey man, if you ever get like desperate, and really need cash, I will totally buy it for like 900 bucks dude, you know, just sayin, if it happens, let me know man."

This why I pretty much stopped selling and buying gear as well. When I do I'll typically trade it to my friend who owns a music store and have him get the things I want. Yes I know I'm eating a part of what my stuff is worth but I'd much rather my friend sell it and make some extra cash than let some guy on the forums try and steal it from me.
That's actually a great choice. I ended up trading The Music Zoo my Suhr 7 string for a guitar I wanted to try and they gave me a very fair price for it. They actually gave me more than the best offer I got here...

Steve

I have traded 2 guitars to The Music Zoo and got great trade prices for my gear!! I had an EVH Art Series, and got almost 2 grand in trade (it was basically new), and I also traded a Vigier Bumblefoot and got close to an even trade on a Jackson Adrian Smith. Yes indeed, The Music Zoo gave great trade value for my guitars, I was very happy.

I raise the price for lowballers. I was selling something on ebay for $225 w/free shipping and got an offer for $150. My reply was $250.
Guess they thought they had me and offered $10....I responded $10,000 plus shipping. I LOL'd when I sent that....never heard from him again.

I cant stand people who complain about prices...you either want it or you don't....you can either afford it or you can't.
No need to act all butt hurt and complain about prices......like if doing that is going to get you a better deal....LOL.

I always want to punch the person who picks the restaurant and then complains about the prices.

I know that one well, the same guy who complains about the prices is also the guy that picks the restaurant then forget his wallet on purpose!!

"sir....SIR!!! Please calm down.....yes we did sell you the Engl Stack for $2000.00 .....BUT
Since you never asked if the amp worked or if speakers were included in the cab....we are not held liable. Is there something else you wish to purchase?"

Un fucking believable.....

I wasn't addressing a "faulty" item. I was talking about the one you get that you decide to return.

Sorry - should have been a bit more clear. :aww:

Gotcha. In that case the customer absolutely should pay return shipping. Faulty items, GC should eat the return shipping.

Just read this entire thread…so much lol in one thread.

I love when people jack their prices up…then I can sell stuff for less than them but more than what it's worth and still look like I am cutting a deal, lol!

Yah....most guys (if they are sick like me) scour the guitars/amps daily at various sites to check prices....availability....etc. :D
