High N' Dry

High N Dry has that old AC/DC style tone and didn't that have the same producer? Just love that old tone, then they COMPLETELY sold out on Hysteria. That album sucked balls from a rock standpoint but i know it made them a boatwad of cash.

Is Hysteria the most over produced album ever or what? And it sounds like the whole thing was done with a Rockman.

That was Pete Willis on guitar back then (along with Clark). Phil didn't come on board until Pyromania was nearly completed...he just added some solos.

Pete may have been a drunk, but they were never the same after he got the boot. High & Dry and On Through the Night are the only DL albums I ever listened to. I remember the first time I heard Wasted- I thought it was UFO.

Agreed. I liked Pyromania as well (still a lot of Pete's influence on that album) but in retrospect it kind of begins to point at the direction in which they were heading...I blame Mutt.

I still like Journey and Styx tunes though, Cum Sail Away just moves me every time I hear that guitar riff. The Def Leppard pop songs were just so Love Bites, Make Love Like A Man, Pour Some Sugar On Me

High 'n' Dry is a great album...definitely Def Leppard's best work.

'Comin' Under Fire' from Pyromania sounds like it should have been on High 'n' Dry.

Yup.....that old early 80's stuff is what I grew up on.
It may be HEAVIER these days.....but not better!
When a Riff was a Riff and you could name the song based on the riff.
Hard to do that these days.

I believe that is the secret of getting the 80's sound.

The guitar sound on High N' Dry is really good. About as good as it gets in some ways.

You could cut glass w/ the opening riff to High N Dry- ment in a good way. I've been trying to get the guys in the band to buy into the old Lep stuff. We play "Pour Some Sugar On Me" because it gets the girls on the dance floor, but I want to let it ripp w/ High N Dry or Let It Go.
