High N' Dry

High N Dry has that old AC/DC style tone and didn't that have the same producer? Just love that old tone, then they COMPLETELY sold out on Hysteria. That album sucked balls from a rock standpoint but i know it made them a boatwad of cash.

Is Hysteria the most over produced album ever or what? And it sounds like the whole thing was done with a Rockman.

That was Pete Willis on guitar back then (along with Clark). Phil didn't come on board until Pyromania was nearly completed...he just added some solos.

Pete may have been a drunk, but they were never the same after he got the boot. High & Dry and On Through the Night are the only DL albums I ever listened to. I remember the first time I heard Wasted- I thought it was UFO.

Agreed. I liked Pyromania as well (still a lot of Pete's influence on that album) but in retrospect it kind of begins to point at the direction in which they were heading...I blame Mutt.

Dollar signs. Stop worrying about making good rock or metal albums and market to teenage girls. That is where the money is. Journey and Styx did it too. The whole glam metal genre is about teenage girls. That is the demographic that spends money on music. Just ask Taylor Swift....

I still like Journey and Styx tunes though, Cum Sail Away just moves me every time I hear that guitar riff. The Def Leppard pop songs were just so :gay: Love Bites, Make Love Like A Man, Pour Some Sugar On Me

You may have something in common with the stated audience.

Yup--this is one of the great all-time jam tracks:

Mirror, Mirror
Let it Go
Hit and Run
LADY STRANGE... FTW!!!

even Switch 625 makes me do leg kicks after getting out of the shower
Clips?

High 'n' Dry is a great album...definitely Def Leppard's best work.

'Comin' Under Fire' from Pyromania sounds like it should have been on High 'n' Dry.

Ah...those were the good old days...good times for hard rock

The albums I picked up around that time

Def Leppard - High 'n' Dry
Black Sabbath - Mob Rules
Ozzy - Diary Of A Madman
Van Halen - Fair Warning
Dio - Holy Diver
Fastway - Fastway
Motorhead - Ace Of Spades
Iron Maiden - Number Of The Beast
Judas Priest - Point Of Entry
Anvil - Metal On Metal
Krokus - Hardware

Yup.....that old early 80's stuff is what I grew up on.
It may be HEAVIER these days.....but not better!
When a Riff was a Riff and you could name the song based on the riff.
Hard to do that these days. ;)

I think it was
I believe that is the secret of getting the 80's sound.

The guitar sound on High N' Dry is really good. About as good as it gets in some ways.

I picked up most of those also back then. Although, Point of Entry took another meaning to me after, well you know. :scared:

I love not only the killer tone and riffs on HnD, but the perfect intonation on both guitars! Awesome.

Yup the minute you hear that Guitar riff.....
HIGH N DRY.....

Its just rocking time!!

You could cut glass w/ the opening riff to High N Dry- ment in a good way. I've been trying to get the guys in the band to buy into the old Lep stuff. We play "Pour Some Sugar On Me" because it gets the girls on the dance floor, but I want to let it ripp w/ High N Dry or Let It Go.

Right on! A great time for music!
