Science does make mistakes and they sure as hell don't have all the answers either. They are revising their theories all the time including whether the universe expansion is accelerating or if it's just localised. Also some of their theories aren't even testable and may never be testable. Whether it's dark matter or MOND. A lot of cosmology is almost pseudo science - wild conjecture. They don't have the answers... and all these theories are just attempting to explain what they see - not how it happened....
Also the big bang theory doesn't explain how it came from nothing. It doesn't explain how the singularity got there in the first place or the trigger for it happening in the first place.
