Alright so I don't usually post stuff like this and certainly don't wanna sound like a crybaby but something I read in the thread "Owning multiple rigs" chaps my ass and kinda makes me wonder if I should just shut my mouth about gear and tone and stick to posting in the classifieds. I've been here close to a year and think this place is great regardless of this deal.

It was a statement made by a member and not the guy who started the thread, the original post did not bother me at all, we all are allowed an opinion.

Maybe I intepreted his post wrong, but what I got out of it is regardless of whether you are any good at playing or even a great bedroom warrior your opinion on tone is worthless unless you are gigging with a full band.

I do not play in a band so maybe I should keep my advice or opinions to myself around here. Am just being to sensitive or should I continue posting here? I'm not great but have been playing for over 25 yrs and can play a little I suppose :D I don't play in my bedroom but instead in the basement where I can crank em if I want to and quite often do so I guess I'm really a Basement warrior as opposed to a bedroom warrior   .

I try not to jump into all threads and push my gear choices and tone knowledge or lack of knowledge   on people, I try to give some advice but leave most of the questions for guys that know more than me.

So should I keep posting or just shut up

Whether you misunderstood or not, disregard and keep posting.

Dude your opinion on gear is just as valid as anyones. It doesn't matter whether someone is a beginner who's in a gigging band, a pro who does soundtrack work at home, or a hobbyist who does it for fun. If you've tried out an amp I'm interested in, I know I appreciate any info whatsoever I can get on it. Keep on talkin'!

I have to agree with Bob here. No reason to pull your expertise because of another's opinion. It's just that.

Thanks for the reality check and thanks Bob, for the love of gear.

I also appreciate the opinion of someone who actually has some experience with a piece I am interested in. It helps to hear from a variety of players, IMO.

BTW, I still play gigs AND play in the basement :D

Ignore it and keep posting.

Tone is subjective and everyone hears and feels music differently. If you like collecting gear (hobby, investment or otherwise) and thats makes you happy that is all that matters. I have a few things that are collection-ish and maybe in time would be worth more down the road if I could get myself to sell them

I've been hanging around here for a few years and have learned a lot from ppl on this site.
It never mattered to me if the advice was from a gigging guitar player or someone that plays at home and digs good tone.

I also get great value from reading other peoples opinions and experiences of gear. so keep buying, selling, and collecting
who cares, just an opinion no biggie

keep posting! Tone is a subjective thing and I'm sure we've all been to shows where the band's tone sucks ass. Whether it's in the bedroom or on tour, your opinion is as valid as any other.

Gigging and recording tone are two completely different animals. Not something that can be measured as better or worse IMO. I've heard way more live bands with shit tone than bedroom warriors FWIW. Stage presence rates higher on my scale than tone in a live setting anyway.

Talent level is another discussion altogether. Most of the bedroom warriors I've heard completely slay the weekend warriors in that department, which is often why they are relegated to playing by themselves. Whether it be ego, or more often in my experience eccentricity, the guys I've met simply do not play well with others.

    I agree, we all have something to offer here.

I gigged out from the time I was 15 until I was about 35. Man cave rock star now days.

I learned a lot over the years on what works, what doesn't, what matters, and what does not. I hang here to learn from others past and current experiences. If something that I found out along the way can help someone else than I am more than happy to share that info.

If I have a differing opinion, I will share. If someone else has a different opinion that I do, I will listen. YMMV.

Not everyone who enjoys playing music gigs: opinions and experiences of a basement or bedroom warrior cover a different use of the same gear and that is just as useful if not more so for those in the same situation. So keep sharing, that's we're here. FWIW I too crank it in my basement.

Keep posting. There's a small circle jerk or bitter old has-beens that post here and like to relive their glory days of your when they wore spandex, poofed up the hair they used to have, and played in some bar band no one ever heard of, nor cared about... they like to throw around terms like "gigs, pro, bands and working musician" like they are better than everyone else here. They also value their opinions above all others. Since they can't afford to buy-n-sell gear as often as they'd like, they talk smack about people who do, and use such terms as flippers, and bed-room wankers, as if it were a sin. These old guys need to get some viagra, find one of those old '80s hags who thought they were the shit back then, and get laid. Maybe that would help them be less jealous and bitter. But I doubt it.

Anywho... keep posting and buying-n-selling. Enjoy!

Don't play into the fucking troll threads dude. Some folks live to be douche nozzles and its period time of the month with their gushing gashes. Or, mommy didn't put their cookies and milk out after school. Buy, play, sell what you want.

Some of the best tones come from whatever man cave you have. If they could be recreated live, it would be awesome. Most of the time, they cannot.

Carry on.....

Yeah, some of the comments and attitudes here lately have been pushing me towards retiring and becoming a casual lurker.

Some great encouraging post's here fellas. Looking back in hindsight I shoulda never posted this dumb ass post but my blood pressure was a risen

I'll keep postin and puttin up senseless zoom HQ3HD clips until I get a real microphone and learn how to record thru my laptop.

Reading my original post just confirms my suspicions, I'm a bit of a hipocrite...I hate these kind of threads :D Just had to vent.

I went back and read the post and I think that guys English language skills ( or lack thereof) made his post easy to misinterpret . I do agree that there can be huge differences in tone when you are playing out in different rooms and different situations than what you experience in your home practice area...

How predictable, the minute that you called on your BS, your only response is "Youre Jealous of me!!!" There is NOTHING about you that anyone is Jealous about Mikey, handle it.
