Imagine a Porsche forum. Some of the participants are professional racers, some are amateur racers looking to break into the big times, some are autocrossing a few times a year, and some drive their 924 to work when the weather's nice. No-one's opinion means nothing, but whose opinion carries more weight?

I met allot of players who gig over the years. 80% of them cared less about their tone. If it sounded ok it was good enough for them. The common reply was the audience can't tell nor do 99% of them care as long as we put on a good show. Guys in the basement know tone. They care 100% because they are their own audience.

I dont think hes saying that Carl but it also depends on what the opinion is about. If a guy who is just a hobbyist bedroom player and has never gigged, extensively or otherwise, what point of reference does he have when it comes to how an amp sounds live, in a band situation and how it sits in the mix?

It doesnt matter if its rehearsal studios, Impromptu jams, dives, small, med and large clubs or friggin arenas, Not much he can add to any of that because he simply doesnt have the experience...

If I need to know how well it performs in Madison Square Bedroom then we're good but Im pretty sure I can figure that out on my own..

I just dont get the flippers who go through all kinds of gear without using it in any kind of recording and/or band situation and then try to pass off BS opinions like its fact which is absurd in and of itself because its ridiculously subjective..
