Honestly, how good or bad is the Digitech RP1000?

The 5150 model kills. It's a great unit, if you ask me.. FX are so-so, but there's some good models in there to be had for a cheap price. Hell, I ran one with a stereo power amp for awhile, sounded pretty damn good!

Yep, the 5150 model is worth the price of admission.
Thx dude, just watched this video!
Does it sound the same as the GSP 1101?

The GSP1101 with the floor board is much better for what your describing.

This, plus you can load IRs into the GSP.

I don't care about loading and storing then into the unit as long as I can bypass the cab and use the amp modeler with my torpedo software. The GSP1101 is only capable of using 128 points of the IR files. The Torpedo is able to use the full length of the IRs. The latter makes a huge difference in sound

I know you can bypass the cabs on the GSP and still use the amp, but not 100% sure on the RP1000. I went back and looked at the manual, and it only talks about bypassing both the amp and the cab sim simultaneously. I don't have my RP1000 anymore, so hopefully someone who has one can jump in.

Good point! This is what I ve found

"On RP1000 edit down to amp/cab parameter. Click tone library knob switch to sel. “CAB” then turn tone library knob to sel. DIRECT."
Either way I think my idea would work... Using the power section of the mark III - rp 1000 4CM - suhr reactive load - torpedo cab - torpedo remote software.

I liked my 1000 quite a bit. Used it for about a year running direct and it was fine.

So is it possible to bybass the cabs sim only? Thx in advance!

For the price, check out the Hotone Ampero
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a used one locally. The RP1000 will set me back 150 euros - good deal really.

I thought the RP1000 was going to be the end all for me. I actually like the distortion from my POD XT Live better. I was using the 5150 in the RP and treadplate dual in the XT. I use them together now, POD for amps and Digitech for effects. This is in front of a clean amp, not direct.
